Cold Eeze Kinda Day

Hello my lovely blogettes?? I was a bit MIA today, please accept my apology, this little foodie was a bit under the weather. I find that when I am feeling something come on, the best way to approach it is to have a POSITIVE attitude and go along like you feel 100%. If I have this mentality I zap myself out of this 'awww I don't feel well" type of attitude and just try to carry on as normal!

Plus a Healthy dose of these suckers! Anyone a Cold-Eeze fan like myself??

Cherry, Sugar Free Cold EEZE - These are magic I tell you! The trick to them is you have to take them at the FIRST sign of a cold and since I woke up a bit sniffly and swollen gland-ish, I ran out to CVS before work and got a box of my oh so favorite suckers!
------------------------
Let me share with you all a fabulous recipe I whipped up last night, Literally!!
I am sure you are all aware of the amazingness of Genas banana soft serve , correct? (if not, go make it NOW!)

So I opened my freezer and noticed an abundance of frozen mangoes I had. I decided hmmm well if the banana soft serve was ubberly delicious why can't I do the same thing with Mangoes? SO I DID!

I only made about a half cup because if this didn't turn out well, I just can't stand to waste food! However, I do wish I made more because this was DA BOMB!

  • Put frozen mango in a food processor, I used a mini one like pictured above
  • Blend straight for 3-5 minutes, stopping every now and then to scrape the sides down.
  • TIP-I found that some of the mangos stayed rock hard, so I added a teeny bit of almond milk to get it going a bit more!
  • DONE! Easy Peezy, correct?

Naomi's Mangolicious Soft Serve! and Look how pretty the color is!

I was very much in the testing out mood so I also whipped up some speghetti squash!! I have never made this before so I was super psyched to give it a whirl!

Note to self: This is not an easy squash to cut! The knife got stuck mid way, I needed my dad to help me cut the whole thing!! Anyways, after I burned about 50 calories from cutting it, it was good to go!

The beauty cooking in the oven, mid bake!
Baked this sucker in the oven at 400 degrees for about 45 minutes or until fork tender

De-scraped!

Pure Goodness! It made SO much!!!  And of course I took a taste. WOW it was so naturally sweet. I was very impressed with myself, even though this was super easy to make!

  • Romaine
  • cauliflower
  • broccoli
  • tomato
  • yellow peppah
  • balsamic vinegar
WORKOUT

because of my lack of feeling all RAH RAH today, I took it easy with the workout today. I did 15 minutes on the treadmill, running 1 mile then the rest uphill incline (10% grade) Then I did some random weights exercises (shoulder presss, back rows, burpees, hammer curls, bosu squats) Then finished up with 12 minutes on the spin bike doing my own spin workout!

Snack time!

From all of your reviews I decided to dig into this beauty:

Coconut Cream Pie Lara Bar

and made it into this beauty
Greek yogurt, cinnamon crushed up Lara Bar. Look at the huge almond chunk in there!
I liked the Lara bar, certainly NOT my favorite, I think the banana bread is my all time favorite right now, but I have yet to try the PB&J one! It was a bit too coconutty for me, I think I am not a coconutty kinda girl, and the large shreds of coconut weren't doing it for me as much as I thought! BUT this was a delicious snack, regardless! I really think that adding it to the greek yogurt made it THAT much better!

Dinner was Grilled steak and grilled zuchinni that I made last night! (eaten at work, hence the tupperware)

Yummy grilled marinated steak tips and zucchini.

I had brought a small salad but had no appetite for all that roughage so just in case, I brought a can of light Progresso chicken Noodle soup!

Eh, not great, but it was what my tummy wanted. I mean there is nothing like homemade soup, Progresso has NOTHING on my mama! It did the job tonight though!

I came home to this:

Let me explain: Whenever I feel a bit under the weather, this signals my mom to make HER MOM's famous "get well remedy" besides, Cold Eeze, this stuff is even MORE magic that those suckers. I should warn you, it is utterly gross, I mean actually hard to swallow down, BUT I do it because it works!

  • water
  • lemon juice (Fresh lemon)
  • FRESH ginger-very important that its fresh grated, not out of the jar
  • Cayenne pepper
Boil the water and add the lemon juice, ginger and cayenne, let it steep for about 10 minutes then strain it into a mug and DRINK, FAST... It is gross, but it works!
