Boston Food Festival!

WOW. Today was so much fun! My mom and I went to the Boston Vegetarian Food Festival. This was the second day of the event, so I thought that it would be a little less crowded. BOY was this foodie wrong. This place was packed!! It was held at the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center in Roxbury, Ma. It was basically in a big open gymnasium, and it was packed with people! I held my mom's hand at one point as to not get lost!

First up

PB&Co Peanut butter samples. Yes Please. My mom thought I was crazy for how excited I was for this booth.

This next booth was AMAZING. Something I had never seen before. The owners were super nice. I chatted about my blog and they gave me two containers to take home and sample beyond the samples at the booth

These owners are local from New Hampshire. They make all natural dessert hummus with flavors such as pumpkin Pie (AMAZING) maple walnut, chocolate mousse, caramel apple and toasted almond

My Swag. I got the peanut butter and maple walnut. Seriously. Check out this SITE to see where you can try this hummus. It may change your life.

Tofutti Onion dip with a vegan, gluten free rice cracker. This was delicious, a bit rich for me but full of flavor.

New product on the market called Teather . (sorry, you have to turn your head!!)

What makes TeatherTM so unique? lt all begins with certified organic ingredients of exceptional quality. Rather than using refined fruit products, such as concentrates or natural flavors, TeatherTM uses real whole fruits and white tea leaves. Moreover, no filler fruits like apple or pear appear in TeatherTM. Filler fruits only cheapen product quality and degrade flavor. The result of whole fruit and white tea is authentic flavor other products simply can’t match. Seeds, skins and entire flesh of whole fruit also offers unparalled nutritional benefits. These parts of fruits are packed with an impressive assortment of vitamins, minerals, macronutrients and other beneficial phytonutrients, some with impressive antioxidant qualities. White tea leaf, which undergoes less processing than green tea, provides an additional abundant source of phytonutrients.

The owner was SUPER nice. This product has only been on the market for 20 weeks, so look out for it in Whole Foods in the next month!

Strawberry Pom Teather

Ingredients

Teather. This was delicious! you could really taste the white tea flavors in here. The consistency is a nice, chewy texture like a hearty fruit roll up.

Happy Halloween! and Restaurant Review!

How was your halloween? Mine was just fabulousss....As I said in my last post it was going to be very low key, as my favorite part of this holiday (is this considered a holiday??) hmmm never thought about that! i digress...so as I was saying favorite part is seeing all the little kiddies come to the door dressed in very creative costumes. Last year there was a little boy who was dressed all green and he was "going green" loved him

So Jason and I prepared by getting lots of the good stuff. He insisted on getting candy that was his favorite, just in case there were some left overs

I was looking inside here to make sure I got a good shot of our selection and I found an empty wrapper! Jason decided to 'try' some to make sure it was ok, then by mistake put the wrapper back. Oh the horror if a trick or treater picked up an empty wrapper...there would be tears

Sadly, we had 1 lonesome trick or treater...needless to say, Jason is a happy camper with his left overs

Backing up a bit, Friday Night we tried a new Restaurant called Nourish . It is located in Lexington, Ma.

This is a foodie HEAVEN. A little about Nourish: We are a family owned and operated business offering an eclectic menu that ranges from nourishing vegan-friendly dishes to lip smacking carnivore-satisfying plates.  With our dual mission of RESPONSIBLY SOURCED – RESPECTFULLY PRICED we are working with area farms and other small businesses to work as much local and organic food into the menu as possible, while maintaining prices that allow a broad range of people to eat with us.

It’s a challenging concept to pull off, to offer enough different dishes on a menu so that both the person who is looking for some tofu or tempeh AND the person who really doesn’t think dinner is dinner unless there’s meat on the plate can both be satisfied.  To also factor in the importance of pricing so that you offer well-sourced food to a wide range of people and also allow them greater frequency is an additional challenge.  But we’re committed to both.  We’ve watched for years as the mix of vegans, vegetarians and meat-lovers combined in one family, or group of diners grew, and knew that with our two concepts we could bridge that gap so eating out would no longer be about someone making a huge compromise.

If you look closely, you can see the Taboule Chicken: Natural chicken pan-seared and sautéed with taboule, served with hummus, tahini, natural pickles, spicy harif, pita and side house salad.

Chicken with the taboule, hummus, small salad with tahini dressing and pita. This was 9/10. WOW I have never had taboule marinated chicken before! it was delicious. Everything was so fresh and healthy. The hummus was clearly homemade, so creamy

Blurry Hummus picture (sorry!!)

Dinner was fabulous. We went across the street to Rancatores which is a local ice cream joint.

Yes folks, they had Pumpkin Yogurt

Mmmmmm

Then I tried a sample...sadly this was not as I had expected it to be. It was icy, more like pumpkin sorbet, which I just was not feelin' I wa so sad that this yog didn't live up to my standards...

I went with Hydrox Yogurt.....mmmmmm HUGE chunks of Hydrox!

Plenty of Toppings!

J got a sundae with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch, heath bar and homemade whipped cream which he was not too into either. It was real homemade, so it wasn't light and fluffy like the stuff out of the can. Still a delicious treat though!

--------

So back to Saturday. I woke up and hit the gym in the am
