What a DAY!

4:15am:alarm goes off, I grogily get out of bed. I have come to get used to getting up this early and now its a piece of cake. The trick is no snoozing!! when my alarm goes off, I am up and out of there. If I snooze, thats bad news (haha I just made a rhyme!) but seriously I would never get up if I snoozed!
5:00am: arrive at work
6:15: grab a workout. Today I did 25 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the Spin Bike. It was an awesome workout. I have so much more energy if I break up my typical 4.5 miles to half bike half spin, so thats what I may just do from now on! (Today was JUST a cardio day, I was a bit sore from my full body workout with my trainer yesterday)
7:40am: have some post workout Protein

That would be 3 microwaved eggwhites with cinnamon. Delish! Also had a few bites of a nanner
8:00am: Get a 16oz Caramel Vanilla Creme Coffee!
8:30am: Make my Oats.
1/3 C Oatbran, frozen berries added at the end, chia and dollop of Crazy Richard’s PB
9:00am read some of my SHAPE and came across this…

What do you think of Shape Ups? Does anyone have these and do you think they are effective?
—work work work
11:30am: Pink Lady for meeee
And some of this creaminess
1:40pm: Lunch time when I got home!
Wrap with Italian marinated tofu from Whole Foods, sprouts, hummus, romaine and tomaters….SO good! Yes I wrap my wraps in aluminum even at home, I like how it holds it together while I eat it!
Some greenery on the side. Lettuce, tomatoes, broc, balsamic vinegar.
pack pack pack pack pack…thats what my afternoon consisted of! And some running of errands to Marshalls (got some stuff for the apt!)

4:30pm ~half of this Amazing Grass bar. I also had 2 slices of turkey breast with a spritz of mustard.
6:00pm I MADE TOMATO SAUCE! I started by sizzling up some garlic in a pot with EVOO (about 4 cloves)
added 1 chopped carrot, 3 stalks diced celery, 1 small onion to the garlic and oil, then a can of stewed tomatoes. After this was added, I threw in some oregano, basil, parsley and cayenne (for a kick!)
All done! I let it simmer on LOW for about 40 minutes.
Roasted some veggies, Eggplant, brox and 1 last piece of kale that I had left over from last night. Why I didn’t use it last night, I have no idea… with EVOO, S & P and garlic powder
350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
I took ~3/4 C sauce, some veggies and 4 chicken meatballs
See, there are the chicken Meatballs!
I <3 salads. Sorry this whole bowl looks...yellow? hmm interesting lighting. It was romaine, red onion, cuke, yellow pep!

7:45pm: NEW RECIPE! I thought about something healthy and sweet and then I thought of ~half a jar of pumpkin in my fridge that was going to go bad soon
I eyeballed everything so bear with me
  • 3/4 C pumpkin
  • 1/2 C wheat bran
  • 1 Truvia packet
  • 2 eggwhites
  • splash of almond mik
  • 1/2 scoop BSN cinnamon Roll Protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp each baking powder and bakin soda
  • few shakes of pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon

Baked at 350 for about 35 minutes
TAH DAH! Pumpkin Protein mini-loaf! I made it mini to see if it was good. I hate to waste food and ingredients in my kitchen so I always start with a small batch when I eyeball recipes. This one is a KEEPER!

This hit the spot!

9:17pm: Currently relaxing, watching BL and American Idol, well now just BL since idol is over at 9:00. I just watched the rest of the bachelor online because I didn’t finish it yesterday. WHY IS VIENNA STILL HERE?!?! I love Tenley and Ali!! I hope they are the top two.
Tomorrow I am working 11:30-8 and hitting the gym in the AM.
  • Have you ever ‘eyeballed’ a recipe or made something off a whim and had it turn out amazing?
  • Do you  have a go-to food when you are hungry around your house? I have realized that my go-to food is cottage cheese! If I am at all hungry, I take a few bites right out of the container and I’m good to go!
  • Favorite TV show at the moment? Mine is the Bachelor!! Yes, I’m a sucker I know

16oz Caramel Vanilla Creme Coffee! = THAT looks great.

    The roasted veggies and kale…nice!

Throwing together and eyeballing is my middle name. All my salad dressings and raw balls. There is no master plan. Instinct and a prayer 🙂

  2. melonshots says:

Oh my gosh! that pumpkin protien loaf looks incredible!!

So do the roasted veg and kale. AWESOME 😀

i totally had you in my mind today when I was apple shopping.. I wanted pink ladies.. but no luck 🙁 got the fuji.

i eyeball EVERY recipe. haha. i hate measuring things! when i type up recipes they are never exact because i never know exactly how much i used. that bread looks DOPE! i am waiting for my cinnamon roll PP to get here then i am MAKING THAT! how do you work out in the morning. sigh. teach me the ways! LOVE YOU!

Hey girl! Love the “day in the life of” post! Eggs with cinnamon? I must try this (I <3 cinnamon too!!). Love tomato sauce and veggies- seriously a kick butt dinner. I like adding a little nut butter too (a la HEAB) for some protein and fat :). Great job on the pumpkiny bread. I missed Idol last night because I was on a plane traveling for work- blah! My go to foods when I'm hungry around the house are apples, carrots and pickles. Odd but usually does the trick

  5. Abby (Nibble, Nourish, Run) says:

Egg whites & cinnamon? Hmm hmm that sounds just odd enough that I would love it! Ha! When I’m baking I’m pretty precise with measurements, but cooking – no way – everything gets eyeballed!! My go to snack is probably yogurt with cereal…and my fave show right now…well Glee of course! And shamefully – the Bachelor…it’s so bad it’s SOOOO good. Have a fabulous day love!

  6. redhead75 says:

Those shoes are a joke. I guess if they MAKE overweight people think they are helping and then they walk more they’re alright.

    I love wheat bran! I hope I don’t find out i’m allergic 🙁 It’s like a free food!

  7. Jamie (Food in Real Life) says:

Wow your day starts early, but that is a great schedule in my opinion. Especially since you can get a workout in while you’re at work. Awesome!

I eyeballed a pumpkin cookie that was great.
    BSN cinnamon roll pp
    3 egg whites
    pumpkin
    vanilla
    oats
    cinnamon/pumpkin pie spice

Baked at 350 for 18 min. Was like a big chewy cookie.

I think my go to food is apples or greek yogurt

And lastly, my fav show? Not into anything right now, but Lost is coming next week! YAY

  8. homecookedem says:

Your recipe looks so good!! I’ve made similar things and afterwards, think to myself, “I am a genius!!” hahaha!! 🙂 Thanks for sharing your brilliant recipe!! 🙂

  9. Karin says:

Oh and I always thought I was cool when I got up at 6am.. Sigh.. Well I think that these shoes are a cheap copy of the MBT shoes (http://www.swissmasai.com). A friend of mine has these and said that they do work because you have to stay balanced to stand straight but I highly doubt that they will help with weight loss.
I always throw together things that turn out fabulous (or not) but it took me a long time to “lose it” a bit and be more creative in the kitchen.
My favourite go-to food is banana & almond butter. Never fails to amaze me ;).
I love tv series but I’m not that into shows… I’m too busy watching 24 these days :).

busy day woman!! OMG good luckkkk with your move, i just moved from LA to Boston in September- the BIGGEST change of my life, lots of stress and tears, but SO much fun and worth it 😀
I also spent an obscene amount of $$ at Marshall’s, TJ maxx and Home Goods so don’t even stress haha!

  11. Gina says:

Haven’t seen the Bachelor yet this week, but we have it saved on Tivo, I’m excited!!

My favorite go-to food around the house is peanut butter. Whenever I am mindlessly snacking, and find myself in the kitchen, I eat a scoop of pb, and I’m satisfied 🙂 Of courrse I’m always back for more about 15 minutes later.

Those Shape-ups are lame. They probably DO shape you up, but not because of the shoe, but because they force you to walk more! So lame.

  12. faithfitnessfun says:

I think those shape-up shoes are so silly!!

I usually eyeball recipes unless its baking. And I am no good at throwing things together, unless its a salad because that’s what salads are ;). I have to have a recipe!

My favorite show right now is probably the Bachelor. The drama this season is great!

  13. biz319 says:

I am with you on not wasting food – that’s how I discovered I could puree leftover Chinese food and use it as a filling for potstickers – it gets your creative juices flowing!

I miss my spin class – my new gym doesn’t have a real spin bike and no classes 🙁

  14. Missy says:

Your pumpkin creation looks great! I can’t eyeball stuff when baking because it turns out horrible. Sometimes I can when cooking though. I wish I liked cottage cheese more! I should try it again. I guess I’d say peanut butter or yogurt or Z-bars have all been my go-to-snack.

  15. Sunny says:

your food always looks so good..we def have similar tastes when it comes to cooking!

my go-to food would probably be a handful of nuts. keeps me full when i feel like snacking!

and i love the bachelor too..and also lovin the BAD GIRLS CLUB..so trashy but so entertaining! lol 🙂

  16. Kacy says:

Wowza, getting up that early would kill me.

All the eats look awesome, espesh that tofu wrap. Yum!

I eat bites of cottage cheese out of the container a lot too. Love that stuff!

  17. Mo Diva says:

i tend to eyeball my recipes all the time! lol

when im hungry i like to make instant cereal or a veggie omlette

i love the pics of your eats! heavenly

my mom got the step ups and she has been tripping over everything… def have to get used to walking in them.

  18. Katie ♥ says:

The Pumpkin Protein loaf looks yum!! I need to replenish my BSN Cinnamon Roll Powder asap!!!!

How is all the apartment shopping going? I bet you are getting excited!!! Its fun to shop for it too!!!

  19. chrystad72 says:

so diggin your protein loaf. Looks awesome! I always eyeball stuff. Its how I learned to cook. I look at recipes for ideas for things but I just always wing it. My favorite go to snack when im hungry is some heated up squash. haha. I always have some in the fridge ready to go that I can just heat up and top with some almond butter. So good! hhmm favorite tv show…lets see…well im looking forward to Lost when it starts up, but I love House and Modern Family.

Sounds like a crazy busy day. But full of good stuff. getting all packed up and ready for the big move?? That will be so much fun. I actually love to move. Im an organizer so I love unpacking everything in a nice new clean apt. Have an awesome day!!

  20. Julie says:

loveeee those cinnamon egg whites! i wonder what it would be like if i did that with egg beaters…except egg beaters have onion powder in there so i’d have to figure out a way to rid that of the stench. hmmm. i just had a convo with myself on your blog.

pink ladies are the best 🙂

  21. peaceluvmunchies says:

Those shape up remind me of the shoes that ..um..seniors..have to wear when their balance isn’t as good anymore or when a leg is shorter than another. Honestly…I bet they probably do work your legs…obviously…if you’re grossly overweight these aren’t going to suddenly make you look like Giselle Bundchen. My dad’s wife got a pair and she said they threw off her balance at first…personally, I think even technically works, even a little…I still consider it a gimmick. –however, if they encourage people to get out there and walk who normally wouldn’t…more power to ’em!

That pumpkin mini-loaf looks awesome!! Yum, yum, yum!

  22. april says:

Everything I make is on a whim! LOL

And that little mini loaf is precious! And protein packed too I bet.. yummy! I didnt like BSN at first and now I’m in love! Yummy yum!

  23. Kris | iheartwellness.com says:

Ok, i need a mini pumpkin loaf!!! SO cute!! What a great idea 🙂

Why do you need to get up at that scary hour?! WOW! It is wonderful you take the time to fit your workouts in and not just sleep in 😉 Dedication!

    XXOO

  24. Lori says:
