Fat burning workout & OIAJ

My day started out with a BANG…thats because I got to sleep in-finally! I have been opening (5am) at work for about a week straight! and today I had the closing shift, which means I had to be there at 11:30. I slept till 8 and made breakfast in my PJ’s! (the best way to do it in my opinion)

Perfection

Almost as good as Ryan R…..Oats in a Jar. Perfection at its finest.

This fueled me for my spin class. It was awesome, great tunes and packed class makes Naomi one happy girl! I always love when the class is packed, it makes me work much harder for some reason. I came home and whipped up this berry berry smoothie for the road!
  • handful cherry mix from TJ’s
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 C cottage cheese
  • 1/2 C almond milk
  • ice/water
Arnold thin w/ romaine, purple onion, LC, turkey breast, peanut butter hummus

side salad with roasted red pepper dressing

Snack time of Fage and apple!

with some Kays Apple Cinnamon Cereal-now thats a snack
munched on this apple pie Larabar before I taught a spin class at work! (2nd spin class of the day!!)

SPIN was great, I had a awesome playlist and it fueled us straight for 45 minutes. I got thinking about packing a great workout into a short period of time. People ask me all the time for workouts that hit all body parts, keep their heart rate up BUT only have 45 minutes

Workout Tip of the day!
Do you find yourself crunched for time at the gym? Do you tend to blow off a workout if you only have a half hour? Think again! Personally if I know I am short on time at the gym, I make sure my workout is intense and heart racing so I squeeze in everything I can. This routine minimizes movement around the entire gym going from machine to machine.  This workout utilizes dumbbells, a bosu ball, and the medicine ball.  That’s it-all you need is some space. Keep your heart rate up and get a great workout with this fat burning routine!
Perform each exercise and rest 10 seconds in between. Rotate through the circuit 2-3 times depending on how much time you have.
Start by jogging in place for a few minutes to warm up

Plank On Bosu Ball

Squat on Bosu ball holding medicine ball

Shoulder press (stand on bosu)
Lunge on bosu (front on Bosu and back on the front)

Tricep Overhead press, stand on bosu

Step up’s on bench

Rear delt raise
Push up’s on bench

All together now
  1. Warm up
  2. plank on bosu ball-hold 1 minute
  3. Squat on bosu ball holding medicine ball
  4. shoulder press standing on bosu ball
  5. Front & Back lunge on bosu
  6. Tricep overhead press standing on bosu
  7. Step up’s on bench
  8. Rear delt raise (stand on bosu
  9. Push up on bench
Repeat 2-3 Times, 15-20 reps each exercise

***Do you have a ‘go to’ workout when you are short on time?***

ENJOY!

Watching Biggest loser and bed time!

GOODNIGHTTT

    That workout looks awesome!

I just tried Zumba for the first time tonight and liked it fine (sweated like crazy) but I really want to fall in love with spin and get over the intimidation.

wow, working the 5 am shift sounds like HELL to me, really. Actually I had to be up at 5 this morning, which is earlier than I have ever woken up (aside from when catching a plane maybe) and so far Ihaven’t died…
I’m glad you got to sleep in though!

I like your suggestion about making it really count when you only have 30 minutes. I did that yesterday, knowing it would be my last workout for a couple days. I pushed myself REALLY hard and I made sure to sweat sweat sweat! It felt great.

Yeah, I use the BOSU in the clinic with my higher-end patients for balance and stuff. Planks on it with the flat side up (and then rocking it in different directions is good too!)…now if only I did it haha 🙁 yah not cool…I just can’t get into weights and stuff…oye.Even when I have ‘no time’…like when I’m watching TV or procrastinating majorly!!! oye again…
nice post chica! i have you on my blog roll – add me if you have one…and if you read…andddd if yo want haha 🙂

Gotta love a morning when you can catch up on some Zzzz’s! 🙂

Seriously great tips here Naomi. I think there are times when we all get a little burnt out and need more structure in a time crunch. Great ideas!

HOORAY for sleeping in! and for OIAJ. i am almost able to have some.. couple more batches of oats. that is a great quick circuit workout~love it! love my bosu ball. i wish i had some medicine balls though. when i am short on time i will switch my weight days for HIIT days. i like lonnnng weight training!

  15. jqlee says:

When I’m short on time, I just force myself to make sure I’m doing more of a circuit training and I don’t rest as much between moves. Normally, I rest 20-30 seconds between sets but when I am strapped for time, rest periods are 0-10 seconds. It makes for a much more effective and heart racing workout too!

PS. Keep up the work on your blog. It’s awesome!
