Make My Wish Come True…… lalalalala

As many of you know I don’t celebrate christmas. BUT this does not mean that I don’t love Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas” I love it, every year again and again, I just can’t get enough of it! ANd yes when I heard it, I sing aloud

Today I woke up and hit the gym for a cardio blast workout. I always put my weight and age into those machines to track calorie burn, but they are never 100%, I just do it to get a rough estimate. Today I used my new Garmin FR60 and wanted to see the difference!

308 calories in 25 minutes. On the machine it said 381! Hmmm, which one am i supposed to believe more? Either way it was a great arc workout, I love that machine I really crank up the resistance and make crazy intervals. I then ran 1 mile, walk .25 and did some ab work
  • Pike’s on the stability ball
  • leg lifts holding the 45 lb olympic bar overhead
  • 6lb medicine ball crunches
  • russian twists
  • Bosu oblique crunches
Came home to this beauty
  • 1/3 C oatbran
  • Frozen berry mix from TJ’s
  • cinnamon
  • truvia
  • chia seeds
  • 1/2 banana

With a shot of Naturally More PB-The BEST kind of shot, and non alcoholic too 🙂
I also tried this SO delicious hazelnut creamer today. I am used to the SILK french vanilla but these were on sale at Whole FOods and that’s what I am all about, so Today was my first day!

Verdict: SO Delicious! (no pun intended!) This creamer was great, it had a natural sweetness that made my coffee amazingly delectable.
I wanted to make a smoothie to bring to work to have in a few hours and I decided to take on the BSI featured ingredient, being Nutmeg! Julie, I am sending this your way!
I decided on a Pumpkalicious Shake!
  • 1 C Unsweetened Almond Breeze
  • 1/2 C cottage cheese
  • 2 large dollops of Canned pumpkin
  • few shakes of pumpkin pie spice/cinnamon/nutmeg
  • Stevia Packet (not pictured)
  • Ice
  • Mix all ingredients in blender and blend away till thick and creamy!

Add a few shakes of Nutmeg and you have yourself one delicious shake!
Lunch was an Arnie thin with sliced turkey breast, low sodium swiss, romaine, hummus and red onion

I licked this, no joke. Thats true Sabra love
My sammie was accompanied by this delish salad with carrot chips (LOVE) and lite italian dressing
Apple was eaten a few hours later
With some Plain Fage
Some cinnamony stix love from Kays Natural. Perfection
Stuck together! I love when this happens, makes them so dippable, no?
And this from my WONDERFUL package. This is my favorite flavor by far! I love anything Black cherry flavored, so this Zevia is right up my ally.

I sometimes like to browse the Weightwatchers website for healthy recipes and I came across this list that I really enjoyed! It is about fitting exercise into your life and sticking with it! As a personal trainer I hear every excuse in the book. I have even been at work before where someone walked in, and then left even after they were changed because their lack of motivation! I try my hardest to motivate but ultimately the motivation has to come from within. These are some great tips!

Make life easy for yourself
Plan a regimen that fits your lifestyle. If you work irregular hours, for example, don’t sign up for classes that start at the same time each week. Instead, choose activities that can be easily slotted into your day: Walk the kids to school or run errands on foot during your lunch hour.

Draw up a weekly timetable
To help you organize your time properly, draw up a weekly timetable of planned exercise and activities. This will also help you see how much activity you’re getting. Try to do something for at least 20 or 30 minutes each day, even if it’s just yard work or going on a brisk walk around the neighborhood.

Attach exercise to a treat
Give yourself a reward for scheduling in fitness. Buy flowers once a week for completing all of the workouts you scheduled. You can also attach exercise to an enjoyable event, such as playing with your kids in the park or catching up with a friend on a walk.

Get everyone else on board
Make sure your family and friends know when and where you plan to exercise. This way you shouldn’t get any unwelcome interruptions. If you need someone to watch the kids while you exercise, make sure you arrange this well in advance; don’t rely on last-minute favors.

Anticipate motivational dips
Everyone struggles with motivation from time to time, preparing for these feelings can go a long way to combating them. For instance, if you sometimes struggle to go to your aerobics class, get a friend to call you to make sure you’re not still sitting on the sofa.

Avoid danger zones
Many things can distract even the most hardened of exercisers: your favorite TV show, the lure of a night on the town with friends, or a neighbor popping in for an impromptu chat. Learn to recognize your particular “danger zones” and take steps to negotiate your way around them.

Buy figure-flattering workout clothing
You don’t want to look like a sack of potatoes when you’re exercising. Spend a little money on well-designed, flattering and supportive gym clothes; you’ll be more motivated to work out.

Have a specially designated drawer for fitness gear
When you’re in hurry, the last thing you want is to be hunting around for your gym socks. Keep all your exercise clothes in a special drawer so you can find them quickly.

Leave your gym bag by the door
Leaving your gym bag by the door serves two purposes: you always know where it is; and it serves as a gentle reminder that an exercise session might be due.

Put your gym clothes straight into the wash
And last but not least, when you get back from the gym or pool, put your dirty clothes straight in the washer. Nothing is guaranteed to put you off exercising more than having to rummage around in the laundry basket for the least-funky pair of gym socks!

Cinnamony pillows of Goodness
Mixed with cottage cheese PB2, frozen blueberries, raspberries. THese are AMAZING. Love the cinnamony outside and almond butter inside. They stayed crispy the whole time too. I am quite happy they are in 110 cal bags or I would eat a fair share of these little puffin like bites! 9/10

Currently sporting my comfy slippers
Is there anything better than slippers, I mean seriously?

New Toy my dad got! So fun to have one in our house now!
——
I was also listening to a local radio station this morning and they were talking about Chris Brown’s new CD and that he was so upset that no one is buying it. What are your thoughts? Would you buy it if you really liked the CD or against giving him the satisfaction of the purchase because of the whole ‘Rhianna’ incident?
  1. What is your fruit flavor of choice? I love black cherry flavored anything! Also orange flavored candies rockkk my socks
  2. When you workout on exercise machines do you pay close attention to the calorie counter? Thoughts on this?  I pay attention to it, but to an extent, I just look roughly at my calorie burn keeping in mind these machines can be way off!
SLEEP TIGHT!

so many thangs to love in this post! i LOVE your slippers 🙂 and your kays naturals stuff! and your “shot of pb” .. so cute! for REAL the best kind of shot! and i would totally believe the higher calorie number on the machine, haha

    1. i love orange soda and oranges, i JUST got a package of zevia so i cant wait to try the black cheery!
    2. nah i dont, so i dont become too obsessed w. it!

  2. burpandslurp says:

Nah, the calorie-counter on those machines aren’t accurate…Those were great tips, though!

I love watermelon or honeymelon flavored stuff…it’s so fake, but I love the fragrance! Oh and peach!

  3. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says:

I never look at the calorie count on machines. If I do, I only take half of what it says…if not less!

Does your Garmin base the calorie count on your heart rate? I’m pretty sure mine uses distance and that I’m pretty sure is not accurate either.

I don’t really consider calories when exercising…just wondering.

  4. Jessica says:

I’m done with Chris Brown – I won’t buy ANYTHING of his!!

I love strawberry flavor, and strawberry-kiwi. Yum!! And as for calorie counters on machines, I have never gone by them and always tell me clients to not go by them. The machine has no way of knowing how much muscle we have – so 2 ppl who weigh the same, same age, etc, could be on, and it will come out the same. But one of those peeps may have 10 more lbs of muscle, thus burning more calories. I think they are bogus!

Have a wonderful day girl!!! 🙂

  5. eatmovelove says:

They do look just like puffins! I just mixed some in with oatmeal haha – stuffed. hmmm – i’ve never tried Zevia, but drink flavor-wise probably a berry twist or lemon-lime’ish sort of thing.
no i don’t pay attention to machines …i don’t pay attention to calorie count actully! i just do what i can when i can – i’d go with the lower number if i were you and you want an idea. cheers girl:)

  6. Mari says:

Yums that bowl of oats looks divine! I have been thinking of adding a bosu ball to my home gym…do you think it’s worth it? I already have a Balance ball etc.

HA I thought I was the only one who sings that song REALLY REALLY LOUD in the car…sometimes I wonder if people walking by can hear me lol

  7. Gina says:

I used to look at the calories I burned, but I really don’t find it important anymore. In fact, it just aggravates me. I just go by hoe much I sweat, and how I feel. I don’t really care about how many calories I burn, because I’m not trying to loose weight, just trying to keep my heart healthy and my endorphins flowing! That being said, I think your Garmin is probably more accurate than the machine.

I love your pumpkin shake idea! My favorite fruit flavor is strawberry, and I really like the TJs frozen fruits. ESpecially their blueberries and strawberries!

  8. Melissa says:

That smoothie…Umm, amazing! I wish I could run home from work and make one right now!

    To answer the 2 questions
    1. Strawberry
    2. I don’t pay too much attention because I know that the amount is usually off (probably too high) I pay A LOT of attention to how many minutes I have left in my workout though!

  9. savoringsarah says:

Hmm I gotta believe that your HR monitor is more accurate! I always rely on mine, not the machine.

Coconut milk Hazelnut cream!??!?! I think that actually has “SARAH” written ALL OVER IT. Gahhhh! Did it taste at all like coconut?? Or just hazelnut? I WANT!

  10. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says:

Ok the Garmin. I wonder how it “knows” things. But the more I see it, the more I Want one 🙂

Tips you shared. Love them and I think they could be true of anything from healthy choices to weight loss to not being judgmental of one’s self/others. Etc. Must come from within. Love.

Pumpkin puree nuked a bit with almond milk, nutmeg and cinnamon and let it liquify can be the syrup for you coffee. Pumpkin lattee at home, healthified.

So Delish in hazelnut. HAve only had the vanilla and I do love it. It’s not Coffeemate Fat FRee vanilla (full of dairy, soy, and HFCS) and I do kinda miss that POP of flavor sometimes 🙂 but the So Delish rocks in terms of healthy non soy creamer, for sure! I have never tried Silk’s VAnilla b/c of the soy. I try to avoid overt soy.

Kay’s I forgot my entire stash at home!!!! CRAP!!! But glad you got your shipment already!

  11. Food Makes Fun Fuel says:

    1. I hate bananas but love banana flavored food!

    2. I don’t pay attention to calories burnt. I used to but then it became obsessive and that wasn’t healthy. Now I’m about distance or time.

I drink my coffee black always but I realllly want to try that creamer because I love hazelnut. I need to get creative on other ways to use it.

  12. Low says:

Chris Brown is a douche, but I did used to really like him as a performer. That kid could dance. Too bad he hits women…

Love your slippers. As soon as I finish my workout after work I put mine on for the rest of the evening. Love them.

I’ve never thought about my fave fruit flavor. Hmmm… I like some cherry-flavored things but not if they taste like cough syrup. Depends on the candy I think.

  13. MelindaRD says:

That Garmin is really cool. As for the calorie counter on the machines. If it doesn’t ask for age, weight and height i am hesitant to believe it100%, but it can still be ball park. Also, if you know what intensity level you are working at and have an idea how many calories you burn per minute in that activity (still an average as everyone is different), then I use that as an indicator. Equations are still just a way to find where something should be in theory.

My grandparents live in Boca Pointe. There are too many of those golf course giant condo/house complexes. Glad you had a good time there.

  14. Missy says:

I would say your Garmin is more accurate is you wear the strap around your heart. I know with my HRM, it says I burn 200 when the machine says 330. I believe my HRM much more even though I wish it was 330!

Love your slippers!! I need to try those Kay’s goodies!

  15. homecookedem says:

Definitely go with your garmin’s calorie count rather than the machines. It is much more accurate.

LOVE your slippers! Cute and they look comfy cozy!!

Great BSI entry! Good luck, hope you win!! 🙂

  16. Janetha says:

ah so much going on in this post i dont even remember what i want to comment on! YES love the bosu in the house, we had one in our gym here at work (ok, weight room that NEVER gets used) so i took it home and nobody has noticed! haha. LOVE that PB shot 🙂 best kind of shot for surely! mmm pumpkin shake. delicious and so seasonal. perfect. hope your day is going great! oh yeah and those are fab tips!

  17. Kelly says:

I do look at the calories on the machines but I don’t think a ton about it because I know they are not always accurate.

Thanks for the motivational tips. I find the “reward” aspect is big for me, or even just having a goal. I have a spinning goal in mind for this month and after being sick I really can’t miss a single class now to meet my goal. It’s getting me there even on these freeeezing cold nights!

  18. april says:

Either way 300+ calories on the Arc trainer is great! My old heart rate monitor said I burned about 180 in 30 minutes. What the heck?? haha

  19. findinghappinessandhealth says:

i usually end up watching the calories, more because i’m bored than anything… i don’t knoww.
what a great post 🙂 so many interesting things to read about! & i’m totally with you.i love xmas music even though i;m Jewish 🙂
that creamer for the coffee sounds amazing & i am so jealous you got to try all those kay’s products..i’ve been wanting to!
i think my favorite fruit flavor is probably strawberry banana or orange. tough choice though!
& idk how i feel about the whole chris brown ordeal..

    xoxo

  20. redhead75 says:

I like grape and watermelon flavored stuff. I don’t really like to eat watermelon though?

I don’t really pay attention to the calories on the machines…I know they are off. I do however make sure mine says 600-700 before I get off 🙂

  21. Jenny says:

Mariah Carey’s song is the anthem for the holiday season.. and now it’s stuck in my head, bah!

aren’t those cookie bites amaze? Kay’s rocks my world.. end.of.story.

MOCS!! I live in mine — they are so comfy 🙂

  22. Erica says:

I love that Mariah song! I could listen to it on repeat 🙂 The pumpkin shake looks so delicious. I need to try this (good luck with BSI!). LOVE the bosu- you can do so much with it.

    1. pineapple
    2. no! If I want to know I look at my HRM

  23. Cara says:

From just reading one entry on your blog I can’t believe how much we have in common! Don’t celebrate Christmas but can’t help singing Mariah’s Carey’s song (it’s my favorite Christmas song! Love cottage cheese in my shakes AND mixed with PB2. And I am totally into fitness and healthy living too 🙂 Look forward to reading more!

  24. greensandjeans says:

You and my mom are slipper twins! I try to steal hers every time I’m home… My fruit flavor of choice is definitely berry anything. I try not to pay too much attention to the calorie counter on the machine, because I know they are usually at least 100 calories over (at least in my experience)! I do know for certain time points what I “should” be at if I’m working hard compared to other workouts though!

  25. MelissaNibbles says:

I love Mariah. We go back like babies with pacifiers.

Chris Brown is a twerp. He’s obviously very spoiled and in interviews comes across as self rightous and like he doesn’t understand the severity of what he did. I wasn’t a fan of his to begin with, but I definitely won’t ever become one.

I like your motivational tips. Especially the reward tip. I think it’s important to make the reward something not food related.

    Have a great weekend!

  26. Katie says:

I love Mariah Carey’s Christmas music! (I can’t believe I just said that in public)…it is so good though. 🙂

I LOVED reading your tips. Any extra motivation is a good thing.

    1. I like grape flavored things. Also strawberry.

    2. I don’t do much machine working out – so I would have to say no on this one!

    happy Friday!

  27. lisaou11 says:

Thats not as big as a difference as I thought it was going to be! I always mentally cut the calorie burn it gives me in half. Prob too much but at least I dont think Im really burning what it says.

  28. chrystad72 says:

Hey sweetie!! How are ya? Sounds like you had one kick ass workout! I usually always go by my heart rate monitor. I think the machines are a bit inaccurate sometimes so I always just go by my watch. I think since its on your body it gives a more accurate read.

Omg!! the soy delicious coconut milk creamer is so awesome! Thanks for your review on the hazelnut. I just bought the regular one last week and that was pretty good too. I’ll have to try out this kind next though.

That is one yummy looking shake too. Im seeing a pumpkin shake in my future soon! It looks delicious!

Thanks for sharing those WW tips too. I do the same thing. I peruse the site on occasion. They have some good ideas like the ones you listed. Those are great for maintaining exercise in your everyday life.

Love the slippers and the Bosu trainer! How fun!
Lets see my favorite fruit flavor? Probably strawberry or orange.

    Have a great day girl!!

  29. Mom on the Run says:

I will have to say that I rely on my heart rate monitor to track calories burned. I feel that is much more accurate.

Lots of great things in your post. I am a new follower!

  30. Kris | iheartwellness.com says:

Girl – I need to try this oatbran!! Can you believe I have never had oatbran??

Mmmmm what is this delicious coconut milk?? I have never seen that up here in canada! I must hunt for this!!!

I love these slippers 😉 So comfy!
