Back from the Skiing Adventure!

I’m BACK! I have so much catching up to do, and I cannot wait to get to each and every one of your blogs!! I missed you all, but I had an amazing time! I was in Mt Tremblant, Canada to go skiing with my boyfriends family. It was the most amazing ski resort I have ever been too. The town was adorable, I kept thinking it was a set of a movie! I had some delicious food and great skiing! I am MASSIVELY tired, so I think this post will be a ‘pictures tell all’ type post.

Goodies for the 7 hour car ride. (and some bonine-which is like dramamine but less drowsy) This cranberry, and nut mix from whole foods was AMAZING. Certainly a buy again!!

We stopped for lunch at Katz Deli in Burlington, VT and I had a pickle…. Just kidding. but I could have eaten 10 of these pickles for lunch alone, yeah they were THAT good.

Turkey on whole wheat with lettuce, tomato, swiss and mustard (forgot the swiss and mustard boooo) Yes, this was HALF. Ah this brought me back to my Jewish roots! I love Jewish Style deli’s! i had one half at around 1 and the other at around 2:30. It was so good!!

See the mountain?

Cute town

Our home for the next 5 nights!

The tram to the base of the mountain went right over the town

Lots of tourists!

The ticket booth to the mountain and the tram, legit right in the middle of the village!

This is what we took up to the base of the mountain. Everyone just walked around the village in ski gear and their boots. I loved it!

Jason and I at the top of the slopes!

This Beaver tail place always had the LARGEST line. There was no indoor seating it was just a large line of basically fried dough with choice of toppings

Thats the board right out front!

The first night we went to la Pizzateria restaurant. It had the best decor! this was the ceiling over the bar.

Jason and I split the Pizzateria salad with loads of veggies, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts

And half a chicken pizza with peppers and onions (it came with sun dried tomatoes, but he doesn’t like them) This was just half. It was the perfect size.

More pics of the local candies. They are known for their maple candy and had the coolest contraption!

SNow on a barrell is evened out.

Pour liquid maple candy on the snow like hot wax and let it sit for 45 seconds.

Then you roll it all up on the stick.

ANd enjoy!! Maple lollipop! This was good, for about the first 5 licks, it was SUPER sweet!!

one day we dabbled in the all organic smoothie bar. I got the Pro-floride with beet, ginger, celery and apple.

All vita-mixed up!
It was SO good! Jasons sister said it tasted like a salad. haha, I loved that but it was darn good! very gingery and refreshing!

Jason got the special which had pineapple, banana, apple and lemon. The combinations were so interesting but they were both delicious!

And got the local coffee. Look how pretty! Just missing a few shakes of cinnamon

Enjoyed another delicious meal. this was homemade lentil, veggie soup with half a chicken wrap. The chicken wrap had raisins, schezan sauce, carrots and lettuce. SO good! I loved the carrot chips on the side too, don;t they look like french fries?

Jason had to try a Tim Hortons chocolate glazed. He said it was ‘meh’ Dunkins is better haha.

My medium coffee was TINY! I couldn’t believe it, I thought they had given me the wrong size! this was for sure a small in America! I guess to be like the French you have to eat and drink like the French!

Canada does have delicious dairy products! This plain yogurt had 9g protein, 7g carbs, 3g fat and 100 calories. Very reminiscent of my beloved greek yogurt. I threw in some puffins and had this on the car ride home today.

And on the way back to the border its nothin’ but farm land. Now we know where the dairy comes from! We also had the MOST amazing tomatoes I think I have ever had in my life! they were baby cherry tomatoes and the brand is Savoura. I must find out how to get these in Boston!

All in all we had a fabulous time! I hadn’t skied in about 7 years and I wasn’t all that bad. The first day my lack of confidence got the best of me and I chickened out on a lot of the trails, but the 2nd day I was feeling way more confident! I had a great time and I absolutely want to practice more. Jason and his dad, brother and sister are amazing skiers! They were so awesome to wait for me to get down those blacks 🙂 But I made it and only fell a few times! I also got some brand new Helly Hanson ski pants up there because mine were about 5 sizes too big (and yes, they did fit me at one point!)
Now I have come back to a snowy Boston and I am SO ready for bed! This bonine really makes me quite drowsy and I can still feel it in my system I am probably going to hit the sheets way early tonight! I will get to all of your blogs some tonight some tomorrow I promise! xoxoxo
How was your valentines day and weekend what have you been up to?
Any new foods or restaurants or recipes that you have made?
What is your favorite part of vacation? I love being immersed in the culture, trying the foods, speaking the language and doing what the ‘locals do’ I picked up some french!!

Have a wonderful night!!

Small coffees in non-USA places….YES. Hello in aruba i paid like 8 bucks for a tiny coffee, smaller than that one. Thus, my own coffee pot came with me 🙂

Ski trips in general are just amazing! thx for the great pics!

maple lollipop? OMG ill take 10. Nothing is too sweet for me 🙂

Yay looks like you had a fabulous time – that town is too cute! Um and that maple candy – we used to do that when we were little in Chicago (er since there was always snow)! Too funny! All your eats look delicious too…and and that Whole Foods trail mix? It’s addictive – so tasty – you need to try some of the Trader Joe’s ones too – they’re fabulous also. Get some rest lady!! Glad you’re back!

This all looks awesome! I love maple candy; I’ve had a lot in my day 🙂
Fried dough sounds like vacation to me! i’d be pushing my way through that line!
And I love liberte, I’m so glad they’ve came to WF

LOL I thought you said the bovine was making you drowsy and had to re-read your post because I didn’t recall you getting a pet pig!

Great pics and such a cute town! I’ve never heard of maple candy but it looks yum!

Like you, my favorite part of vaca is getting immersed in local culture. I hate staying in ultra touristy areas (unless ya know, it’s on someone else’s bill!) and like to check out local sports. I went to Mexico last yr and we stayed at a local resort an hr north of Puerto Vallarta and it was nice because it was tucked away in a small town, so we got to check out area restaurants, shops and when we were there the town was having a festival.

    Welcome back!

Such amazing pics! Seems like you had a fantastic time. I’ll also go skiing this weekend which scares me a bit too because I haven’t stood on skis in more than 10 years!

  8. Morgan says:

Looks like such a great trip! I love Canada and Jewish delis!
That maple candy reminds me of Little House on the Prairie (one of the books). The made maple candy like that and I always wanted to try it!

Yay! I’m glad you’re back 😀 I’m glad you had a great time.

My favortie part of a vacation is not planning ANYTHING. Just living like a normal person is suppose too. Not worrying about what and when i’m going to eat etc…

So jealous of your skiing adventure!! It looks like it was so much fun. Skiing is probably my favorite sport, but I only get to do it once every few years, since I live in SC!

I just saw the Liberte yogurt in my grocery store. It was hella expensive though. I want to try it, but I gotta wait until it goes on sale!

  11. Erica says:

Couldn’t agree with you more on the beans! I eat them usually 2x’s per day! And I love making my own hummus. Have you checked out broccoli hut’s hummus page? She has the best recipes.

  12. Sunny says:

That sounds like such an awesome trip! My favorite part about traveling is going to small little towns, the kind that if you walk in town around 10pm, you are the only one out there =)

  17. Missy says:

Yay glad you are back! It looks so pretty and cute there! Love the town! I loveee sammies from Jew delis! They pack that meat in! My favorite part of vacation is the different food! Oh and hopefully warm weather because I don’t ski!

  18. peaceluvmunchies says:

Ahh Katz Deli!! I miss living in Burlington — though not the colllld they get there. 🙂 All of your food looks amazingggg! and that town is too cute!! I want to go!! 🙂 Glad you had such a great time!

  19. Thinspired says:

I love little ski towns like that! What a fun trip. Skiing is such a fun hobby but can be so exhausting and expensive! I wish I could do it more often.
That is one awesomely massive deli sandwich! Love it!

  20. Julie says:

Welcome back!! Looks and sounds like you had a blast!
I used to ski a lot with my ex. I didn’t like it too much because of the cold and the fact that he made me stay out there all damn day. The atmosphere is so cool though! Little ski villages, apres ski, the lodge…I’d go again just to have fun and some beers 🙂

  21. Nicole says:

How fun! Looks like a great time and such a cute town. I’m glad you had some good eats while you were away. That’s the most important part! 🙂

  22. FoodFitnessFreshair says:

Sounds like a great trip! This makes me want to go snowboarding sooooo bad.

The maple candy looks like fun! I actually just tried “sap juice” last night…fresh from the tree sap…the liquid, unboiled down form of maple syrup. It was delish!

  23. Erin @ Cooking and the City says:

So funny, I just got back from a skiing weekend too in Stowe, VT and passed by Burlington also! It really is exhausting…the driving and of course all of that fresh, cold air. 🙂

I recommend going to bed super early, I did at 9:30 last night and am feeling muchh better.

  24. Julie says:

ahh! when i went to quebec back in the day we made little maple syrup lolly pops haha they were so much fun to make!

i’m going on a day ski trip in two weeks for the day and i have NO idea how to ski or even how to put on skis! give me some tips 🙂

your trip sounds like so much fun and SO romantic! glad you’re back safe n souuuund
