What Motivates you?

Hey my dear friends, and happy Friday to you all!

Sadly the Boson Celtics couldn’t pull out a win last night against L.A. The game got ugly, I wish I didn’t stay up so late to watch!

I was thinking this morning a lot about motivation. What is it that motivates people to exercise and eat healthy? Or furthermore…GET healthy? Is it the way you feel after a workout, is it the fact that you want your heart to stay strong as you grow older? Is it to lose weight?

I have a client, who needs and wants so passionately to lose weight. She has about 40 pounds to lose and she has two little children. She is worried about her health first and foremost. She is one who needs some hardcore extra motivation. I write her emails weekly to remind her to come down for a workout, and always lend my services or time to help her with whatever she needs. I saw her come down for the first time in about 2 months yesterday. She explained how she hates exercise, which is why she never comes down. Now, I completely respect the fact that someone doesn’t like to exercise, but when its about your health, I think that it is so important to find SOMETHING active that they enjoy to get their body moving. I told her if she is serious about losing weight and getting healthy, she needs to stop holding onto the sides of the treadmill while she walks at 3.5 speed at a 0% incline, and bump up the intensity, I know she can, but I think she is scared. I just want a light to go off in her head to say YES I AM GOING TO DO THIS. She is a work in progress and I hope that I get help her reach her goals.

What motivates you?

I get motivated by breakfast, thats for sure–to start my day at least! This was Thursdays stove top oats
It was so creamy and delicious. I love how the banana slices make the oatmeal fluffy and sweet.

I made a homemade iced coffee to bring to work! I love this. Save $2, why not? I topped it with tons of cinnamon!

Lunch was an ensalada with shrooms, cukes, tomatoes and baby carrots (homemade dressing of course)
For lunch, I layered a slice of ezekial bread with a Laughing Cow wedge and some avocado
Topped with romaine, sprouts and tofu! I loved this combo and it was quite a mouthful to eat!

I did some INSANITY after I digested. Today was the recovery disk, and this in no way is a relaxing, recovery workout! I still had pouring sweat. It  is more of a refreshing workout, not so much jumping as the others, but still extremely effective!
I had some greek yogurt and an apple shortly after

Dinner was boring ole leftovers (although the picture is boring and somewhat gross, this in no way is starting to bore me!) Protein packed falafels, brocolli with nooch and a Laughing Cow wedge.

I am enjoying some Bike Week Coffee
MMMMM

And a creamy bowl of stove top oat bran with a beautifully rounded scoop of PB (didn’t mean that at all!)

Happy Friday, Friends! THis weekend in Boston is going to HOT HOT HOT!!! I can’t wait!
  • Are you a drink buyer or drink maker? Meaning, do you try to keep drinks in the house so you don’t spend money getting them outside of the house, or are you all about convience, and just grab it on the go? For me, I like to say I am 50/50. I make coffee in the house 50% of the time, but also enjoy grabbing a nice cold ice coffee made just for me 50% of the time too!
  • Do you like to buy souveniors when you go somewhere fun? I LOVE them!!
PEACE OUT!
