Blogger Meet up & Cereal Overload!!

You have until tomorrow to enter my GIVEAWAY!!!
Hey guys! Phew…what a weekend! I was all over the place…and now a MONSTER update! I had the best time on Friday night at my first blogger meet up! I met some bloggers who I knew, and some whom I didn’t so it was such a fun time! I can’t wait to do another one. It is so fun to meet people in person, after having followed them for a period of time! We joked, that its as if we ‘stalk’ eachother because we immedietly startin asking questions that we knew about because of their blogs! The ladies included:

We ate at the restaurant, Vlora on Boylston st in Boston. I had acutally been here before, but I was so excited to eat the food with food bloggers!! The decor inside is so fun and hip. I loved the lighting and we sat in the back where the whole roof was exposed to the beautiful night!

I started with a glass of Pinot Grigio, nice and chilled for a perfect, hot Boston summer night!

We each got presented a crispy and doughy roll. THere was olive oil and olives served as well. This is a Mediterrean restaurant, so as the server brought us the appetizers, she explained the background and history on the dish, it was very interesting!
Grilled zuchinni’s with tzatziki sauce and a small green salad
Grilled octopus with heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers. ALthough I eat fish and meat, I couldn’t bring myself to eat this dish! Everyone said it was delicious though, so if you eat octopus, it was amazing!
Greek salad with fresh dill and a slab of creamy feta

Arancini Siciliani – italian rice balls, mushroom & feta filling, fresh tomato & mint sauce

Watermelon and feta with balsamic, olive oil and parsley. Oh My. This was the most amazing by FAR out of allof them, and I can’t wait to recreate this!
My appetizer plate! A little of this, a little of that

For my dinner I got the greek salad (I know we got it as an app, but I only had a bite!) I wanted the feta!! I topped it with grilled chicken and this ended up being the perfect amount of food!
The gals (I’m way in the back on the left!!)

Saturday was a beautiful day!! I woke up and did some Insanity-Max Cardio and Cardio Abs. It was a great workout, I worked up a great sweat. Did I mention that I am done with Insanity?!?! This to me is insanity, and I am quite sad. I do want to continue, but I also know my body needs a break from the high intense plyo’s so I am moving to P90x!! I got the dvd’s from a friend, so I am going to incorporate those into my workouts, and maybe do some month 1 Insanity dvd’s here and there for some cardio! I can’t wait to start!
  • Thoughts on Insanity: I loved it. Like I have said before, this is not a program for beginners. It is very intense, and not to mention quite taxing on the knees and joints, so if you have bad knees, this is not a program for you and may aggravate your body even more. I did see some great results, mainly in my core and upper thigh area (which is just what I wanted out of it) I am now a HUGE advocate for ‘crunchless abs’ meaning that you don’t have to do any sit ups or crunches to see those abs! I love this idea, and I am now on the hunt for new workouts using the core. I did miss my weight training, so I am excited to bring it back with P90X. I have a new love for workout DVD’s I think the idea of them is great, that you can have a trainer right in front of you, pushing you non stop.
I enjoyed some coffee with stevia and rice milk while my oats were bubbling away on the stove top

Beautious

This was a great bowl!

  • 1/2 C oats
  • 1/2 C rice milk
  • 1 C water
  • cinnamon
  • 1 scoop Protein Powder
  • 1 eggwhite
  • 1/2 banana
  • blueberries
  • 2 tsp creamy Peanut Butter
I met up with one of my best friends a couple hours later and sat by the pool in the sun! It was so perfect! We got Whole Foods salads for lunch. I had romaine, carrots, cabbage, beets, cucumbers, almonds, feta, corn, 2 different bean salads and we got some turkey breast on the side to split!

Skipping to Sunday night. I made a great dinner last night! I wanted to make something where it was a one pot deal.
I sauteed 1/2 pound lean turkey, 1/2 onion and 1/2 green pepper in a pan
Then I added 1 C of chicken broth (can use veggie broth) 3/4 can of fire roasted organic tomatoes and 1/3 C whole wheat cous cous. I covered and let everything simmer for about 30 minutes, until the flavors combined and the cous cous was cooked
I topped it with some mexican style cheese! It was perfect. (I made jason the same exact thing, but used lean ground beef and white rice instead of the cous cous and turkey)

I also made a small salad with romaine, red pepper, cucumber and sauteed collard greens with minced garlic

Today, I realized that I forgot my P90X dvd’s at home, but I did have the Insanity ones. I decided to do a Month 1 cardio power dvd (which is 38 minutes long) followed by the bonus upper body weight training dvd that came with it. It was a great workout!! I had some oatmeal afterwards, but forgot to take a picture I was so hungry!

About 2 hours later, I enjoyed some vanilla Chobani!
And a pink Lady, next to this strange awesome guy!

Interesting article. Kept me entertained to say the least!

For lunch, I threw together a salad in 2.5 minutes, literally. Romaine, carrots Cucumber, tofu, left over black bean burger

And a slice of ezekial bread with humus, sprouts, and tofu

I also got a stellar package from the peeps at Barbara’s!

I broke right into the shredded mini’s! (Blueberry burst)

As soon as I opened the bag, a strong pungent, blueberry flavor came rushing out! I loved these! They weren’t too sweet. I was planning on only trying them, then I ate the bag. It was totally worth it and I loved every morsel.

  • 1/4 C cottage cheese

  • handful frozen cherries & blueberries
  • 1/4 Banana

  • 4 ice cubes
Topped with the good stuff!

Ingredient List. These were good! Not as good as the original Puffins, but still delicious. I am not hard to please when it comes to cereal!

How do I like my iphone 4g, you may want to ask?…I LOVE IT. I seriously am addicted, and know that It will ease out over the next week or so, but I was always a blackberry girl, so this to me is a fabulous new toy. I have all of my music, a ton of apps, and lots of exercise videos already loaded! I don’t even need a computer!!

Song of the moment!!
  • Are you a texture eater? Do you like something to crunch on your smoothies or yogurt? I am all the way!!
  • What is your all time favorite cereal I think mine would be Shredded Spoonfuls or Honey Nut Cheerios!!
  • Favorite kind of appetizer? I always love ordering a salad to start, and love the ‘special’ salads such as ones with goat cheese or grilled pears and walnuts! YUM
