Bread From Heaven

Hey guys! Happy Friday (and long weekend if you have it!) I know I do, so I am excited for the nice weather and time off! Before I get into the food, I want to share one of the most AMAZING packages I got yesterday! Manna Organics sent me the most generous sample package I think I have ever gotten since blogging
What is Manna bread? It is a cake-like, sprouted bread, yeast free bread, organic bread, free of salt, no oils, no sweeteners, no leavening agents. Manna is a moist and delicious, high in protein and fiber. Available in 9 delicious flavors in your favorite health food store, and most Whole Foods markets, in the USA and Canada. Or you can order it on the website!

So, I am sure you want to see the goods, right?

My first peek inside!
The goods. I got 9 loaves of their delicious Manna bread and 2 loafs of their sourdough sprouted breads

The banana walnut loaf was obviously going to be first! It was calling my name

These breads look quite calorie dense, because 56g of bread is acutally not that much BUT it is so packed with flavor and it is so moist and dense!!

Loaf out of the bag. It is smaller than your typical loaf of bread but a decent size!

I don’t know if you can tell from this picture just how dense and doughy and moist this bread really is. It falls apart it is so moist! (i hate that word, I just can’t think of any other way to describe it!) It is packed with bananas, raisins, dates and it is not sweet at all! It literally could hold up to your favorite sandwich without an overpowering “banana bread” flavor!
Millet Rice was next because I have a new found love for Millet! I needed to try this!

Again, I barely had to cut it and it fell apart! See the pieces of millet in there? This would be an amazing base for a turkey or tuna sandwich. I am now obsessed with Manna Breads. I don’t know how they make them so doughy.

Crumbled up….Idea for tomorrow snack with a yogurt! There are MANY of flavors that I didn’t break into because I got this package last night and I was going to bed, so I knew if I broke into every bag I would eat my weight in bread!!! (nothing wrong with that, But I was just tired!) So lots more flavor reviews to come BUT I will tell you this is some of the most amazing bread I have ever tried

Breakfast yesterday

Mmmmm. The perfect way to start the day. Soft Serve! Banana Blueberry soft serve that is! I mixed up 1 1/2 frozen bananas and a big ole handful of frozen blueberries in my food processor for about 2 minutes until it becaome creamy and delicious.

Nothing better
I made a girly bowl this morning!
Pink oats! (Food coloring) walnuts, strawberries and banana-blueberry soft serve plopped right on top! I love this in the summer time because the oats aren’t steaming hot, and the soft serve is cool and creamy

Try this. It will change your life
I stopped at Target before work and found a new gum! It is quite good. The flavor doesn’t last all that long (surprise, surprise) But its good! My whole bag smells like this Berry Red!!

I munched on 1/2 of a Peanut Butter Cookie Luna bar

Apple a day

Workout
Yesterday, I was beyond sore. I don’t remember the last time I was that sore! It was definatly the weight training from P90x that did me in. I haven’t lifted weights in a long time due to Insanity, so My body was a bit in shock. WHen I woke up in the morning I did 45 minutes of Yoga from my Ondemand Exercise TV. (which is a great option!!) I never really took advantage of all the great workouts that I can get for free On Demand, but now I will explore my options more often! It was great, just what I needed to stretch my body, especially my hip flexors
LAter in the day at work, I did the Insanity Max Recovery DVD

Shaun T in TIGHTS! My life is complete! This was great too. It was very slow paced, lots of stretching and yoga. Again, just what I needed

I had an awesome snack!!
1/4 C oats cooked in water, 1 cup of greek yogurt, carob chips and blueberries!! Holy Yum

Speaking of recovery and giving your body a rest, i do want to touch upon this a bit more. I do it, I know some of you probably do it, and what I am talking about is working through soreness when you semi-know you should be giving your body a rest. I always take one FULL day of rest, that means I do not exercise at all. I do errands, relax, live life you name it, but i give my body a complete break. One day a week I have somewhat of an active rest, whether that means doing yoga (like I did today) or going for a walk, or doing a much less intense workout, I just take it down to about a 5 (from a scale of 1-10) where usually I am working at an 8,9 or 10.

If you have a hard time taking a rest completely, go for a leisurely walk or bike ride. Remember that staying in shape is a lifestyle and you must be consistant. If that means taking a day or two off a week so you don’t burn out then thats what you should do! You may be shocked at how refreshed and energized you feel when you return to the gym!

5 Benefits of REST
  1. More energy throughout the day: Rest helps you avoid that mid afternoon energy slump. Your workouts will be more efficient and you will reach those goals much faster
  2. You will sleep better: WHen you are overtraining you could be over tired and taking a rest could help you get a good nights sleep
  3. You will be heathier: When you get a good nights sleep you enhance your immune system which in turn will help you avoid getting sick
  4. Boosts brain function: It can be hard to concentrate when you are constantly tired. When you give your body a rest, you can be more efficient at work, at home and in life!
  5. You will be happier: When you are tired and exhausted, you can be more irritable and edgy. Instead of being moody, get some rest and you will see how far it can take you!!
