11 Things I Accomplished this Weekend

Happy Holidays! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend (and day off if you did today like me!)

What the heck was I up to all weekend?
1) I tried this meat (venison) Which I had heard good things about, and I thought it would be a nice change up in protein. I ended up making venison meatballs
  • 1 pack venison
  • 1/2 C diced white onion
  • 1 T Italian seasonings
  • 1 T Dijon mustard
  • salt and pepper to taste
I formed into about 6 even sized venison balls (TWSS) and then cooked at 350 for about 15 minutes. These babies cook FAST because the meat is so lean. I think what happened is that I over cooked them. I was not a fan of the final product. It almost tasted like a chewier, less tender ground beef. Any suggestions are welcome!

2) Christmas Eve: I went to my best friends house and we cooked up a feast! Seared ahi tuna steaks in a ginger/sesame spice blend, roasted asparagus, Brussels sprouts and butternut squash dusted with nutmeg, salt and pepper. We also make wasabi dip by combining Greek Yogurt with powdered wasabi. SCORE
3) I got a wonderful fortune
4) And of course some Chinese take out! (steamed shrimp and chicken with vegetables and brown rice)
5) I FINALLY curled my hair with a flat iron! This has been a feat I had not yet accomplished. I was so happy!
6) I experienced one of the worst hangovers I have had in a while from drinking this cheap wine from TJ’s Oy.

7) Speaking of Hangover. I watched Hangover II. And “Friends with Benefits” and “Something Borrowed” My order from best to worst

  1. Something Borrowed
  2.  Friends with Benefits (cute but SO unrealistic!)
  3. The Hangover II. ( I was quite disappointed. Sure, funny parts, but I think the first one was SO good, it was hard to top, not to mention it was basically the same exact movie-taken place in Thailand

8) I went to THIS PLACE to work with the master on some muscular imbalances that I have. We took some videos and i have a whole corrective exercise routine that I am going to follow, and also share with you all. Look out for an awesome giveaway from Perfect Postures coming up soon and a full review of my experience working with the great Aaron Brooks

9) I had 2 great workouts! (the gym where I workout when I am not at work is open 24 hours, so working out on Christmas day was quite a treat!)

For my upper body day, in order to keep my heart rate up the whole time and because I was feeling a little extra energy, I decided to perform 5 burpees and 10 bench jumps in between each set.

Upper Body Day:
  • Chin ups superset w/ plyo push ups (5x AMRP)
  • DB Bench Press superset w/ barbell back row (4×10,8,6,6)
  • Cable Back row superset w/ half kneeling 1 arm shoulder press (4×10)
  • Ab wheel roll out superset w/ stability ball knee tucks (3×15)
  • 20 minutes on revolving stairs. For the workout to move a bit faster, I started at level 8 and then every 30 seconds, increased the level by 1 until I reached 12, then worked my way back down to 8) ( 8,9,10,11,12,11,10,9,8)

Lower Body Day
  • Off set walking lunges superset w/ Jump lunges (3×15 each leg, 10 jump lunges each leg)
  • Goblet squat superset w/ jump squat (3×10 for both)
  • Single leg bench pistol squat superset with Spiderman plank (3×10 for both)
  • 2 rounds (4 min each) of TABATA on the treadmill (incline 10%, speed 7.0…20 seconds sprint, 10 sec rest)
10) I made some of this. Shrimp cooked in homemade tomato sauce. So good.

11) I listened to a lot of house music like this:

How was YOUR weekend?
