FAP Foxwoods Weekend!

What. A Weekend. If you follow me via my Facebook Page or Twitter, you know exactly where I was this weekend. Saturday morning, I hopped in the car with my friend and co-Savage girl, Jenn and we were off to Foxwoods in Connecticut to cheer on our team! We were meeting some of our other friends who were already there (the four of us were not competing) to watch the show and have a fun night at the casino! The show was unbelievable. I can’t even describe the energy in that theater. It is so interesting to sit in the audience and watch as a spectator in a sport that you take part in. As I was sitting in the audience watching the amazing women and men who had trained so damn hard for this one day, I couldn’t help but  get a bit emotional as well as really reflect on my own journey when I first walked on that stage. I remember how nervous I was, but I also remember that feeling. The one where your heart is beating so fast it wants to jump out of your chest; it is a combination between nervous, excited, desire and passion. These girls and guys worked so hard and to watch them all get up there and shine; nearly brought tears to my eyes; and a lack of voice today from cheering so loud!
After about an hour at the show, we walked over to California Pizza Kitchen which was located right in the casino.
I went with the roasted vegetable salad with grilled chicken. It was served with roasted artichoke hearts, peppers, asparagus, corn and avocado, served over romaine lettuce with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It was so delicious (surprisingly) because I always thought of CPK as a ‘sub par’ chain. This salad was awesome. We also split an appetizer of freshly made hummus and pita wedges.
We had to have some fun at the show too! Before the awards were announced around 10:00pm, me and the girls went to Shrine for dinner. Shrine is one of the club/restaurant’s in Foxwoods. The menu is Asian inspired with delicious, fresh sushi and other Japanese style items.
We got the Asian greens to start which was served with a plum vinaigrette and slices of sweet apple. It was delicious!
And of course, a toast.
The next appetizer we had was the seaweed salad which had a light lemon flavor. It was served with shrimp and crab meat on top.
For our meal, we ordered lots of sushi! We also were pleased to know we could sub the white rice for brown rice. I actually prefer the nuttiness and taste of brown rice with sushi over white rice, so it was great that it was an option.
After the awards, we came BACK to Shrine for some celebratory dancing. Lots and lots of dancing!
It was such a fun night! Got back to our hotel room and crashed!

The next morning, we went to the cafe in the casino for a buffet breakfast. We all were craving the omelet bar so that was the first stop! I got an omelet made with 1 egg, 3 egg whites, peppers, spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes. I knew I was getting in some other healthy fats in my meal which is why I only chose to have 1 whole egg.
I also took a bowl of hot oatmeal and mixed in raisins and almonds
And a pear and coffee
When we first were deciding where to eat breakfast we passed a fancy schmancy breakfast buffet at the Prime Steakhouse. This breakfast was $36 but it was INSANE. It was packed with everything from white chocolate cake, cotton candy, roast beef, chocolate fondue tower, cereal and fruit bar, you name it they had it. Unfortunately, the $36 dollar price tag wasn’t too appealing so we passed on it, but it was quite a sight to see!
Friends!
More friends!
Bye bye Foxwoods!
I left this weekend, talking with my girlfriends about our next goals-whether it be goals that are fitness related or something completely unrelated to fitness. We always take time to reflect on our lives, where we want to go and what our next steps will be. I have to say that I left this weekend on such a high. Seeing those competitors on stage got me fired up and absolutely got me thinking about my next show. I decided my goal
Hello Atlantic City! August 25th. I decided this would be the perfect first show for me because it is at the end of August which will allow me plenty of time put on some muscle and really have my focus in gear. Because of my recent ‘bump in the road’ in regards to my health, I have not been able to lift super heavy or at the intensity that I would otherwise. I am not at all complaining because I know the importance of recovery, especially when it comes to listening to your body. I decided that end of August is the perfect time for me. Here we come!

Do you have any new fitness/health/personal goals?
