Favorite New Store, Lots of yumminess!

Ahh Sunday, one of my favorite and also one of my least favorite days of the week. I am staying positive though, and today will dub it as my favorite day!
Before I talk abotu the weekend, I will back up to Thursday where I left off. After work, my mom and I went bed shopping (SUCCESS!) I got a queen size being delivered on Saturday right to my apartment.
Bed-off the checklist

  • First I want to anwser some questions I recieved on my last post. Why do I store my PB upside down? I just prefer to keep it upside down to prevent oil separation. I think that when I have kept it right side up, the oil forms on the top way more than when I keep it upside down. Or you could just call me ‘wierd’ 🙂
  • How do I make my Eggwhite oatmeal? For this, I take 2 eggwhites and whip it in my magic bullet till they are white and fluffy. After my oatmeal is 90% cooked, I add the eggwhites into the oats, and whip it good! Then I just put it back in the microwave for about 30 seconds and voila! the eggs will automatically start to cook once they hit the steaming oats so don’t worry about them not being cooked. • Ok back to my Thursday, where my mom and I went to my new favorite store.

    I got this cute mug!

And almost got this one as well. But it was very heavy. Cute, but too heavy.
Cosmo Jellybeans!! I didn’t get them, but they were too awesome to not take a picture of.
    Cute sign
    Off to Christmas Tree Shops!
Remember when I talked about my  Favorite Childhood gadget? Well look what I found in X-mas tree Shops! A whole shelf of the little guys!

    16k Engagement ring for Me.
Just kidding! How cute are these napkin holders?!

I munched on some cocoa roasted almonds that I brought with me from my Trip to Tarjay.
WHen I came home I made April’s low carb sweet bread!
    Ingredients:
    • 1 cup ground flaxseed
    • 1 cup wheat-bran
    • 1/4-1/2 cup pure pumpkin (depending how moist you like your bread- I like mine really moist so I used 1/2 cup)
    • 1 cup liquid egg substitute
    • 1/2 cup hot water
    • 1 tbsp each baking powder and cinnamon
    • 2 tsp pure stevia extract
    Directions:
    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray a loaf pan with nonstick baking spray.
    2. Combine all ingredients.
    3. Pour into baking pan, bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

MMMM good! I think I used too much sweetener, so next time I will monitor my ‘eyeballing’ of this ingredient! So good, April!!!

Dinner Thursday Night was a simple salad with some honey mustard and some Dr Kracker Crackers.
A meatless meatball mess with some roasted brocolli and eggplant, homemade tomato sauce and a LC wedge (microwaved and all mixed up after picture)
    Friday morning COffee

1/2 C oats with blueberries and a few cranberries, 1/2 banana, Crazy Richard’s
I came home to this package from the lovely folks at Barney Butter! Free samples!!
Can you believe that I have never tried BB??
BB and Jam Wrap!! SO good. It was thick and creamy and so flavorful!
Lunch-Ensalada with carrot chips, tomaters, red pepp, cuke, broc and some no salt seasonings on top with balsamic vinegar. I also had a turkey wrap but I am sure you are all wrapped out so I will let your imaginations run wild with what it looked like 🙂
    —–
I went to the gym a couple hours later for a full body workout, Well it was mostly upper body.
    Set 1
    • Combo Rear delt–>tricep kickback–>bicep curl—>military press (ALL in one move)
    • Chest press with 10lb DB (20 reps) while lying on bosu ball
    • Stomp around the bosu
    • REPEAT SET TWICE

    Set 2

    Set 3

Came home and ate this beast. 1/2 C cottage cheese with 1/2 scoop BSN cinnamon Roll Protein Powder. 1/2 Apple and a handful of Kashi Puff.
    ——————
For dinner I went with Jason to the Golden Temple which is a chinese Restaurant in Brookline, MA. It is really good and easy to keep dinner healthy too!
Started with a mandarin orange salad with mandarin orange dressing and slices!, mushroom and black sesame seeds. WAY too much dressing on this!! We couldn’t finish it because it was doused in dressing! ( I hate that)

I got the chicken vegatable delight which is steamed mixed veggies, chicken breast and a light oyster sauce, I also asked for no oil. Very delish and healthy! we also got some brown fried rice and jason got beef and green beans.

Saturday morning Breakast! 1/2 C oats, with strawberries, some blueberries, 1/2 banana and chia. PB on the bottom!! COFFEE.
    ——-
I hit the gym shortly after for a 10:30 BodyCombat Class!! WOW this is SO FUN! I have done it before, but I wasn’t in the ‘mood’ so I left early. Today I had such high energy and the class was packed, which I love and I was a sweaty beast!  Here is a little vid you can watch to see what the class is like! its high intensity cardio with lots of kick boxing moves. My HRM said i burned 448 cal’s in 55 minutes! Not too bad! I ended with 15 minutes on the arc trainer and some abs ( I am loving DECLINE leg lifts these days!)
came home and it was lunch time! Started with a salad
Turkey Wrap with lettuce, sprouts, tomaters, hummus.
SOme sea salt soy crisps on the side!
My mom and I ventured to the Natick Mall shortly after for me to find a dress to wear to Jasons Brother’s wedding in April. I found 3!! I bought one from Karen Millen. i had never stepped foot in this store before but it looked good and I liked the style of the clothes so I went in. I found TWO dresses!! I had one ordered because they didn’t have my size and took one home. THen I went to Cache (which I really dislike most of the time) BUT I found one dress that was really beautiful, ordered in my size being shipped. I don’t know if this one will fit because they only had a size 2 which didn’t fit over my knees so We shall see!
    —-

Home Goods and Christmas Tree Shops are EASILY two of my favs! There’s so much great stuff and the prices are amazing! Both stores helped me furnish my apartment on a very low budget 🙂

I am doing hw for grad school (UGH!)

It looks like you had both a fun and busy weekend! That is so exciting that you are moving. Glad that you found a dress for your brother’s wedding..I always have such a hard time finding a dress…such a pain!
Today I am relaxing and doing some yoga, I’m thinking about making homemade pizza with salad for dinner tonight!

Thanks for the tip on your oats/eggwhites. I got a Magic Bullet for Xmas but I haven’t even taken it out of the box yet (I am afraid if I do, we will become inseperable!) I absolutely love the “I Got Baggage” sign at Home Goods! I love that store so much and spend hours wondering in. My new favorite place is the local Salvation Army—found me a pair of Stuart Weitzman Heels there for $2.75—score!

    4. Abby (Abbys Vegan Eats) says:

AHH Naomi I dont know where to start.. LOVED this post. That store looks fun.. I love looking at fun household stuff.

I really, really wanna make that bread..looks so easy and yummy. Thanks for the recipe.

Enjoy your Sunday (I know, its usually bittersweet for me, too!!) 😉

I totally have to laugh because my hisband not 30 minutes ago asked me why my PB was in the fridge upside down. My lil sis told me this years back because I started eating PB and was buying the all natural kind. Once I knew this was the way to go I encouraged my clients to by PB sans transfats and to store in refrigerator upside down. This is a great tip.

No new fave stores for me since mine are limited to begin with. Gotta hit Mango in Angra soon since I haven’t been on the island yet.

    6. Jenny says:

    10. platipus329 says:

Wow you’ve been up to a lot! I think I recognize that Homegoods. Framingham next Target?
I don’t think eggwhites could ever come out as good in oats without a magic bullet. Oh well.
      Yummy chinese!

    13. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says:

I love the shopping excursion pics!
Clothing…hmmmm. Well, once upon a time i would have never believed that half my wardrobe would come from the Target loungwear section of the store. It used to come from places like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. Times have changed. Yoga teacher, motherhood, dont care about it anymore!
      xoxo

    14. Katie says:

What a great recap! I love home furnishing stores, too. I will have to keep my eye out for a HomeGoods…I love that mug you got!

Yay for BB samples! Those would be gone in about 5 seconds at my house. 🙂

    15. moretolifethanlettuce says:

lucky girl and BB samples! i’ve never tried it! i LOVE home goods, here it is combined with TJ Maxx (so you can get clothes AND all the other home stuff, in other words: spend twice as much $!) such a cute mug you got!

    16. Melissa says:

Home Goods is an awesome store. I’ve found so many unique decorating items for my apartment at such great prices.

      I STILL haven’t tried Barney Butter. 🙁

    17. Gina says:

I LOVE me some Barney Butter! I want some samples, I’m jealous. Barney..what about ME?! haha, jk.

When I saw Sweetbreads on your blog I was a bit scared. I though, “Is Naomi making cow Thalamus?!” strange! Look it up, you’ll see.

I have never tried Carba Nada noodles (you asked about them on my blog) because I’m not on a low carb diet. I’m on a wheat free diet, therefore these probably wouldn’t be good for me.

As for your questions, I would say my favorite store is Staples, 🙂 I could be in there for HOURS!

    18. Danielle (coffee run) says:

I’m actually glad there isn’t a home good store down here because that’s where all my $$ would go! I love cute dishes

I’ve tried Barney Butter before and it was like CRACK. I don’t know what it is…

    19. Erica says:

Loveeeeeeeee homegoods! I’m totally going there to get some stuff for my secret valentine- that mug is too cute. Loves of great fresh veggies in this post- yum! I want to try making that bread too. Glad the combat class was kick butt!!

Doing today: Taught Body Pump/ran, working, packing for a work trip
Eating: hummus, veggies, fruits, trying a new product I was sent to sample!!
Favorite store: currently…hmmm…TJs 🙂 even though we don’t have one

    20. Gelareh @ Orange Truffle says:

A new bed… how do you like it so far.. we got a king in July and oh I love having the extra room 🙂

I have never had Barney Almond butter. I have heard about it from other bloggers but haven’t seen it at the stores yet.

    21. One Healthy Apple says:

I love playing dress up! I have found dresses at oddball stores- cache included! I have also found steals at Loehmann’s- kind of a bizarre store but they have good deals!

I love the heart mug and you cracked me up on the ‘whip it good’ line with the eggwhite oatmeal.

Killer workouts and delicous oatmeal as always!
      Have a lovely day, hun!

    22. Michelle (Snacks and Field) says:

Thanks for posting how you added egg whites into your oats! I can never get it right!

And your trip to Home Goods looked so fun- I love that mug with the heart:)

All your food looks delicious and yay for free Barney Butter! I’ve never tried it either! But those little individual packets seem so convenient!!
