Its INSANE!!

Hey guys! Happy Monday. The start of a NEW week! I hope you all had a great weekend! I did, it was BEAUTIFUL here in Boston and dare I say almost too hot yesterday? Not to mention there was a large water main bust which left 30 communities surrounding Boston with NO CLEAN WATER! It was a mad dash to the supermarket for water. It is things like water that we so take for granted until we can’t use it anymore! I have been brushing my teeth, washing my fruits and veggies with bottled water and eating off of paper plates because we are not supposed to clean our dishes with it, yet we can shower? Hm makes me wonder really how clean I have been these past couple days . Everything is being fixed and back to normal in 24-48 hours. It really makes you realize things like water that we take for granted! I am just happy to be safe and healthy. This is not the end of the world, we will all get through it!

This weekend was also spent with INSANITY. I am loving the workouts. They are challenging and kick my butt but I am loving them, and I am feeling that I am getting so much better at some of the jumping plyo drills. I feel refreshed and powerful after each workout. Although I would say go get this DVD if you want to try something new, I am not going to recommend someone jumping right into these DVDs. This is quite an advanced program, and I would not recommend someone new to exercise or fairly new to jump into these. Your baseline of fitness should be quite high BEFORE starting the INSANITY program. If you are unsure about it, feel free to email me or ask a trainer at your gym!
After my INSANITY workout Saturday morning I refueled with some protein oats. I used raw almonds in my oatmeal. I am trying to cut back on nut butter a tiny bit. It is such a trigger food for me. and I know I can get healthy fats in other sources, so I am trying to incorporate those more in my diet rather than sticking with ONLY peanut butter.

1/2 C oats cooked in 1 1/2 C water, 1/2 scoop cinnamon roll protein powder, 1/2 banana, 3 cut up fresh strawberries and some fresh blueberries. Oh and those almonds!

Creamy and delicious.

Saturday was spent outside. We went out on the motorcycle near the ocean. It was perfect weather!

In the town we stopped at one grocery store/gourmet foods shop that had a HUGE extensive choice of foods.

Lots of prepared goods as well! There was so much choice, food and people, we acutally got overwhelmed! THis may have been the first foodie overwhelming experience ever! We decided to leave and go to a little local pizza shop instead
We fueled up with some vitamin water and water

I got the BEST whole wheat wrap! It was grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and green peppers. Such a good decision we made!

It was just what I was craving.

I stopped in at a little boutique and got this great ring! I love unique jewelry in which no one knows where its from. I am obsessed with this ring.

Dinner was when we got home. I started roasting 3 large carrots and broccoli in some PAM spray, salt and pepper.

Carrot fries!

California style salad made with avocado, romaine, red pepper, cucumber, craisins and sprouts

Some extra crispy sweet onions (oops!)

Grilled steak, onion and 1 small sweet potato for me!

And lots of these! There were leftovers. I love cold, roasted veggies.

Sunday, we woke up, I had some repeat protein oats but NO COFFEE! Ahh, this water main break caused all of the coffee shops to not be open and I didn’t make some before I left. I was hurtin’ We volunteered for the first part of the day at Bostons Walk for Hunger.

The color didn’t do much for me. But we worked at the water station, handing out and pouring water for over 40,000 people! It feels great to volunteer!

This morning I had 1/2 banana before getting my INSANITY on

I like them extra ripe.

The town where I work isn’t effected by the water main break, so I took a 50 oz bottle to refill!

ANd stole some plastic silverware to use at home!

COFFEE!!! oh how I missed my morning Java!

I finally got my Brooks Glycerin in my size (I ordered the 8 before and they were WAY big, so I reordered the 7.5 and love them!) They are so cushiony and love the purple color!

More Protein chia oats!

So, all in all I had a great weekend, besides this whole water thing, but hopefully this will be fixed soon! I am loving INSANITY and can’t wait to continue. Its amazing that I am really getting amazing workouts just by a DVD. I never thought I would be a person to say that I can workout without going to the gym, but hey, I am! I am not doing this workout to ‘lose weight’ however there are some trouble spots that I am trying to work on. I know that spot reducing doesn’t exist, and when your body hits a plateau its always good to switch it up to see how your body responds (I wrote about plateaus and getting over them in that highlighted link) My core already feels strong, as does my body. Throughout this whole program, I plan to listen to my body, push myself but never to the point where I am uncomfortably working too hard. (But hard work sometimes means getting out of your comfort zone!)

  • What do you think you would flip out or have a hard time dealing with if you were told _____ is broken, you can’t use it for at least 3 days?! I think for me, this would be WATER, my fridge and gas! (car gas that is)
  • Have you ever hit a workout plateau, what did you do to get through it? I have! and I always try something new! For now, its INSANITY
  • What is your jewelry style? Do you like plastic, silver, gold, big and chunky or small and not showy?! I am not a huge jewelry person at all. I like small, classic and pieces that don’t make a HUGE statement. When I see something I like when it comes to jewelry I usually get it because I am not into the real expensive stuff (yet!!) However, who doesn’t love diamonds!?
