Giving it up for my goal…

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart so much for your support. I recieved emails, wall posts etc all wishing me good luck and how excited they were to follow my journey to compete. To say I am a newbie to this would be an understatement, which is why I am so thankful that so many of you have reached out to lend a hand and help me. I also am so excited to start working one on one with the CSF team. There is a young woman who is around my age who just went through the CSF program and did her first competition in April, 2010, and I spoke with her today for an hour or so about her experience. The more people I talk to, the more I hear “JUST LISTEN TO THEM, YOU MAY THINK THEY ARE CRAZY, BUT TRUST THE SYSTEM” and I am taking this advice fully! Some of the experience will be fun, I will surely learn a whole lot about myself and my body, but most of all it will be a challenge, one that I am up for. The other amazing thing is that CSF is about 25 minutes away from where I live, and every sunday they hold sessions (1 hour workout, 1 hour posing) I am going to my first one NEXT Sunday!
THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!
Onto the foodie part of the blog
Back to lunch from yesterday. It was a good one! Spinach, green beans (love raw green beans) red pepper, raw ‘shrooms and 1/3 C quinoa. I topped it with balsamic vinegar
Enter the protein. I cooked up a block of tofu on the stove top with ginger, low sodium soy sauce and a dash of nutmeg-which I think adds a little somethin’ extra! It was delicious
Later in the afternoon, AFTER MY HAIRCUT! (which I love by the way!) My bangs to the side are much more pronouced and I love it!  Hunger came through again. I microwaved some green beans only for 1 min to get them a bit soft but still had a good crunch to them.
Some mush. This mush would be 1 /2 C liquid egg whites with frozen spinach and tuna. I tried to make a tuna pancake, but it didn’t work out so well for me, so enter…tuna mash
It was tasty though! I sprinkled on some Mrs Dash
With my frozen spinach and egg whites out on the counter, enter Alysons diet spinach bars!
Wow, such a simple recipe but so delicious! It reminded me of crustless quiche!
Obviously dinner had some diet spinach bar action. I cut about a 3 inch by 3 inch piece, along with some chicken breast (that I marinated in cumin, coriander and lemon) and steamed asparagus (to steam the asparagus I placed it in a bowl with about 3 T of water and nuked for 1:30 minutes)
I was pretty obsessed with the colors I had on my plate. I love food that is appealing to the eye (well besides my tuna mash)
So good! Afterwards I watched some TV (Also realized that nothing is on TV Tuesday nights!) I watched some of Hell’s Kitchen, and some of Teen Mom the news. My ‘dessert’ was 1/2 C no salt cottage cheese with 1/2 T peanut butter. I find that the Unsalted PB is much less addicting than the salted kind, so I think I should stick with that 🙂 Tomorrow Ali and Roberto are on Regis and Kelly in the AM (bahhh i’ll be at work) but I definately want to catch that later when i get home! I think they are making their talk show rounds
They do look DARN cute, don’t they?
I made a TJ’s stop yesterday and picked up this beauty. It just sounded THAT good that I had to spend the $4.99 that frankly, I shouldn’t right now because this whole competition thing will be costing me some major $$. Anyways, I digress. It made an appearence in my oats
If you know my blog, you know what this is, right? (yes, I wonder  if I will not be allowed this breakfast on contest prep *GASP*) and the answer is probably “No, Naomi, you will NOT be allowed this” Ah well. I have goals, and sometimes we sacrifice things for those goals!
Lunch was a packed salad of baby spinach, asparagus, zuchinni, black beans, cucumbers, ‘shrooms, red pepper and grilled chicken!
Post workout 1 scoop protein and water ( I did p90x shoulders and arms) wowza, awesome workout!

If you don’t already, follow me on Twitter! I have been tweeting much more often now and probably will even more!!
  • Do you believing in giving up something you love (temporarily of course) for something else that you love, or a goal you have? I do! I know I will be able to eat this my whole life, but now in my life, I am going to eat what I am told so I can KILL it the day of my show!
  • Do you like quiche? Quiche was something that I always had growing up! My mom would make “healthier” quiches using fat free milk and half eggwhites, half real eggs, low fat cheese and snuck veggies in there. Obviously, my favorite part was the crust!!
  • How often do you really listen to your body when eating or exercising? Do you push yourself farther than you probably should during a workout, or eat something just out of boredom? I am pretty good about the food thing, but working out wise, there have definately been days when I shouldn’t have worked out the way I did, and then I pay for it the next day! It is SO important to listen, people!!!
