Pumpkin Take 2

Hey! Welcome back Monday. It really creeps up on ya, doesn’t it? How was everyones weekend? Mine was great! It was beautiful weather here, and hasn’t snowed yet. I remember this time last year it was snowing, so I will take all the dry days I can! This weekend was also awesome because I played tour guide for a few hours to Mari and Missy! They decided last minute to come to Boston for the day on Saturday so I decided to pick them up from South Station and take them around for a few hours! We all instantly clicked. It is so funny how you become such good friends with people over the internet. Of course, its always a little nerve wracking at first and i had some butterflies, but as soon as I saw them, we hit it off!! We talked about everything from living in NYC & Boston to jobs, to working out to of course, some food!
I felt a little bad because I got a bit lost going from South Station to Newbury st, which is where I was taking them for the first part of the day. I brought them right to Steve’s which is a greek restaurant on Newbury st. I had just eaten lunch before I picked them up, so I just ordered some hot coffee but they got the most delicious looking lunches!
Missy got the vegetarian platter which was basically grilled veggies over a greek salad. It originally came with homemade potato chips, but she opted for the french fries. There was a bit of waitress drama (she brought her the wrong dish) and we told her to absolutely send it back. I am a big believer in getting what you pay for at a restaurant. If they screw up even the slightest, I send it right back and get what I ordered! She was extremely happy that we convinced her to send it back and get what she wanted!
Mari got the falafel plate (she was craving it big time) with hummus, tabouleh, and fresh pita. Halfway through their lunch, Ashleigh from Ashleighsliceoflife met us! I was so happy to meet another Boston Blogger!
Mari, Ashleigh, Naomi, Missy! We had a great time. I dropped the 3 of them off at the North End so they could walk around there and said our goodbyes. Next time I told them they have to stay longer!

Before I met up with the girls, I had a great workout at the gym. It was my total body workout day, this workout is basically 3 different circuits of 4 exercises and I am constantly moving, keeping my heart rate up! I love it and always leave feeling like I accomplished a lot in just 1 hour. If you are looking for a circuit training workout, look at this post or this one from me!
In come the canned pumpkin. After my first pumpkin oats experience, I was skeptical to try it again, but after some tweeting, I was told that non-organic pumpkin tastes 10 times better than organic pumkpin. I didn’t know if this was true, but I saw this at Whole Foods (99 cents!) so I thought I would give it a try!
First thing I noticed was that it was a MUCH brighter orange color and it didn’t have as strong of a smell
Oats on the stove (lots of cinnamon) and in goes the pumpkin
Blob o’ pumpkin
Meanwhile, I enjoyed some coffee with almond milk and vanilla stevia
Tah dah! I topped it with a drizzle of sugar free syrup. There are some eggwhites and 1/4 C frozen berries underneat the oats as well.

Thoughts? I really enjoyed it! It made the whole consistancy of the bowl really dense and thick, which I loved. I doused the bowl in cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice which probably helped with the flavor, but overall, I enjoyed it!!
On Sunday, Jason and I did some errands and then went to see his parents. We stopped to get some coffee at this cute little shop (I got pumpkin pie spice!) and I just love the name of the cafe! Its called “Gunter Tooties” They are known for their NY style bagels, and I have to say their honey whole wheat is on my list of things to get after my show!!
At Whole Foods, I saw this 365 brand Almond milk and figured I would give it a try. It is going in my oats tomorrow so I will let you know!
Salad for lunch in between some food shopping and gym! Veggies with sweet potato and chicken breast
And I got my FAVORITE Artist’s CD in the mail-finally!! I am obsessed with Joshua Radin and his new CD just came out. It is just as expected. Amazing!

And now I am enjoying this little heirloom, special variety apple! They are the perfect size for me these days!
AMAZING WORKOUT SONG!!
  • What is your current workout song that you are playing on repeat?
  • Do you find that ‘generic’ brands of food taste the same as their bit more expensive counterparts? I usually find that the generic stuff does taste the same. I acutally bought the 365 rolled oats and love their creaminess
  • What food are you eating on repeat these days?
