Chinese/Japanese feast and Lots of Mail!!

How was everyone’s christmas?? I have been reading some blogs for a little bit and sounds like you all had the PERFECT day! (for those who celebrate) but if you don’t celebrate like ME, then I am sure you had a quiet and relaxing day, filled with chinese food and movies! (or at least thats what I did!)

Thursday Morning Breakfast

1/3 C oatbran, blueberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, truvia cinnamon, chia
We spent the night at Jason’s parents house. It was a great night, we went out to dinner with a few other couples (sorry no pics!) and slept over. The next morning Jason helped his dad out and did some manly work
He also decided to snowblow the porch and asked me for help taking down the snowblower off the porch. He had a brilliant idea of using a plastic table as a ‘ramp’ and asked me to stand at the bottom, making sure it didn’t slip. Well as soon as the snow blower started going down the ramp, the weight of the machine was too heavy for him to control and BAM, right into me. Thankfully the machine wasn’t on, but it did hit me right in the shin and I fell hard backwards on the ground, bruising my leg and also twisting my wrist a bit because of the impact on the ground. It was NOT a fun experience. My wrist and shin still hurt a bit, but nothing serious….This is why I stay away from big toys!
When we got home, I went ot the gym for a quickie workout. It was open until 5, so I made it just in time! I did 3 miles on the treadmill and some random weight circuts, ended with some ab work and called it a day!
Post workout treat! Chobani, frozen berries, Better n’ PB, Natures Path Optimum Slim.
I received my Musselman’s Applesauce package that I won!

Raspberry Acai was up first!

LOVED it! So tasty, nothing like regular applesauce. This would be great on oats!
I also received this fabulous holiday card from miss Meals and moves herself, Janetha B. Thank you girl!
And my Secret Santa gift!! IT was from Raspberryrunner!! LOVED IT!
Fair trade coffee, Organic chocolate mint bar and Gluten free granola!

Can’t wait to brew this up
With a square of this

And some of this sprinkled on yogurt. This granola was amazing! Not too sweet and had huge clusters which are my favorite part. There were lots of sunflower seeds and dried fruit. THANK YOU GIRL!
Thursday Night

Chinese/thai take out
Fresh spring rolls. These were just OK, I have ordered them before from another place and they were MUCH better. They were basically just filled with noodles and 1 piece of lettuce.
Kept it healthy! Steamed chicken and veggies with brown rice
J got Spicy kung pow chicken. I loved the peanuts in here but this dish was muy caliente para mi!

we ate our romantic chinese take out by the fire
I made a side salad and used this balsamic vinegar. This is the most amazing vinegar I have ever had in my LIFE. It is by Ariston and it is worth every $7.99 penny! It is sweet and syrupy and magical.

Ended the night by making some brownies for the boy. I was stuffed so I didn’t have any but they smelled mighty tasty!
Japense night 2
Last night we went out for Japenese. We were going to go for chinese again but were just chinesed out!
Started with green tea. REALLY GREEN

garden salad with miso dressing that came with our entree
Perfectly cooked edamame
Chicken and shrimp teriyake in a sweet and savory sauce.
SUSHI! We got spicy tuna rolls, cucumber and avo rolls and a special ‘celtics maki’ My fav was the spicy tuna!
——–
Today
Started off with some protein oats
1/3 C oatbran, 1/2 banana, chia, 2 eggwhites fluffed in there

Final product with some berries and cinnamon. OMG amazing.
Why not have a shot in the morning? (this would be Peanut butter of course, not a real shot!) I see nothing wrong with this.

Hit the gym for a great workout. Ran for a mile then did a bunch of weight circuits.
  • pull ups
  • Squat–>shoulder press
  • Squat on Bosu ball with lateral raise
  • crunch on Bosu
  • Lunges frontwards and back on Bosu
  • Squat Jumps
  • Vertical row–>tricep overhead press
  • Leg lifts
  • Tricep push down
  • ended with 15 minutes hard on the arc trainer
  • Blasted 805 calories!!
Was ready for some LUNCH

I made these buggers. Pumpkin Spiced chickpeas

Tofu mixed with mustard, greek yog and spices=tofu salad!
———
This was the perfect lunch! I am now off to meet my friend for some shopping. Jason is in NY for the night visiting some amigos and I am going out on the town tonight with my 2 best friends from HS. I am super excited!
  • How was your xmas??
  • If you didn’t celebrate, how did you spend your day yesterday?
  • If you drink alcohol, what is your favorite shot? if you don’t drink alcohol what is your favorite drink?
  • Are you sad like me that we had to miss a week of the Jersey Shore?

Christmas like a true jew! If I was in Bmore it woulda been the same. I did a Portuguese Christmas here. I couldn’t quite figure out how to say Hanukkah in Portuguese so I stuck with natal which is Christmas.

My fave shot is a kamikaze! Ok, I have on occasion also done tequila shots, but only with Patron silver!

Glad you had a nice time with your Asian cuisine. I hope your leg/foot gets better soon.

  2. ktbwood says:

Haha, I am not crying over Jersey Shore in the least.
Christmas was awesome! The mad rush to exchange gifts a little more hectic haha
They have played Adam Sandler’s Hannukah song on Mix 104.1 so many times! Good thing that never gets old 🙂

  4. Gina says:

I love how we all got such neat “foodie” gifts, like chocolates and granola and cool gadgets!! Only foodies would like that kind of gift 🙂

I used to date someone who was Jewish and we went to Chinese on Christmas, and the movies. I liked it!! It was always a lot of fun, and so different from what I normally did, obviously.

Glad oyu enjoyed your day, and didn’t die from the run-away snow blower! Scary.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Devan Geselle says:

  6. biz319 says:

You are so lucky the snow blower wasn’t on!

Love all your eats – but I cannot support you on the Jersey Shore show – they just seem like the most stuck up kids in the world – but then again, I am twice their age! 😀

  7. Andrea@WellnessNotes says:

The sushi looks great; I love spicy tuna rolls!

I have never seen Jersey Shores, but I’ve been reading so much about the show that I have to check it out. (In fact, I tried to catch the first episode on Hulu but it’s not available right now…).

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

“1/3 C oatbran, blueberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, truvia cinnamon, chia”
Ok I am assuming you meant truvia comma, cinnamon comma, chia. Not that there’s actually cinnamon-flavored Truvia on the market??!! I know that is such a super small thing to fixate on. But. I love Truvia. And I love cinn! So the two would be a match made in synthetic stevia heaven 🙂

Ok and now I am actually feeling like such a dunce. I swear, I am the Only blogger who didnt know about the Secret Santa thing and no one can tell me where or how or when this got posted and I would have LOVED to get in on it b/c I love playing Santa. Seriously, I read 50 blogs a day, every day, and never once saw it. Ever. Who organized it?? Clue me in for next year!!!!!!!!

Your gift looks amazing! The Theo I have heard excellent things about.

    The 7.99 Vinegar. Cool.

The Snowblower. Very uncool!!!!!! Thank GOD you’re ok!

    xoxoxo

amazing packages you gorgeous though. I love getting mail, it’s so special!

I can’t remember the last time I had japanese/chinese food fair. I used to GO TO TOWN on a container of sweet and sour chicken. Oh my goodness.. so good!

p.s. hope you weren’t too hurt by the snow-blower.. you poor thing!!

  10. iamahoneybee says:

Its rare if I come across a shot I don’t like. And even if I don’t like it much its over quickly!

I like sweet shots so i like ‘birthday cake’ shots. My new favorite thing is Domaine De Canton. It’s a ginger liquor. yum.

    love your blog!

  11. eatingRD says:

I sure hope you are doing ok, ouchie 🙁 not fun. I had a nice Christmas just spending time with my mom and fam 🙂 mmm I’m craving chinese food now. I just always love your big bowls of oatbran! And I’m so jealous of your awesome workouts, you go girl! I’ve been slacking without gym access and cold rainy days (no excuse) I’m looking forward to a kick butt gym class soon.
hmmm my favorite shot would have to be patrone or chocolate cake 🙂

  12. chrystad72 says:

awesome looking food!! I love japanese and chinese food. Im really interested in trying out that balsamic vinegar. Im a huge fan of it on my veggies and it looks great. Can you just buy it anywhere?
My day has been crazy but awesome. Had some friends over for christmas eve, it spilled over into christmas day where we ended up the night by seeing SHerlock Holmes. (Which was entertaining but not the best movie by any means)
My favorite shot is hands down tequila. I cannot turn down a great sipping tequila. Whenever me and my husband go to Mexico we also brings back lots. As for casual drinking I love a good red wine. Those are my two favorites.
Oh I havent even seen Jersey Shore! I gotta catch up. I hope you having one awesome weekend so far. The snow looks too fun!

  13. Katie says:

Mmmm your morning bowl of oats is making my tummy rumble…yum, yum, yum!

My Christmas was great, and it’s not over yet…the celebration continues tomorrow! My favorite drinks are milk and coffee…not together 🙂 and I don’t watch Jersey Shore, but I am a TV junkie, so I know if I started, I would be hooked.

  14. One Healthy Apple says:

I’m sorry to hear about your accident but glad to hear you are OK!

So Chinese- check! Movies- check! At one point we realized it was dinner time on X-mas and figured we were screwed because almost everything is closed here. Luckily I had ingredients for turkey chili!

My favorite shot is patron with lime! When I was a party girl, I enjoyed the kamikaze shots too!

I have only seen one episode of Jersey Shore- sad, I know!

    Have a great day!

  19. Janetha says:
