The title of this post is dedicated to Larry. The 62 year old man who Braved the judges on American Idol last night to sing this. I mean really, if you are sad, having a bad day, just watch this video!

Onto some eats!
Thursday morning I woke up and had a few bites of a banana and hit the gym. I told myself I only wanted to run on the treadmill twice this week. My knees have been bothering me, I think from all of this running I have been doing, that I need to give the running a break for a bit. I have decided Mondays and Tuesdays will be my running day. Therefore, I ended up doing 20 minutes on the Step mill (big stairs) reading some US weekly, and then 20 minutes on the arc trainer.  I hit the weights for a short session.
ABS
Devoured some Protein oats!

1/2 C oats, chia, 1/2 banana, 2 whipped eggwhites

Add some Berries and PB and VOILA. perfection. (coffee as well!)

I made some lunch afterwards to bring to work. I found these 100 calorie weight watchers whole wheat (say that 10 times fast) pita pockets I thought would be great and they have 9g of fiber! I topped one with honey dijon mustard, red onion, tomato, 3 oz Applegate Farms Turkey breast, baby spinach and kalamata olive hummus

I liked this very much! it was a change from the normal Josephs wraps I get, and they were so thick and held up perfectly! I didn’t even cut it in half, just shoved the big circular sandwich in mah mouth. I also had a salad with homemade dressing on the side!
Couple hours later I was so happy to dig into my Chobani and it was a major Fail. I don’t think you can see from the picture but this was before I touched it! I opened it brand new and it was about halfway gone! I think they forgot to fill this one to the top! I was super disappointed, but enjoyed my few bites of yogurt nonetheless.

Munched on this apple
And half of this Amazing Grass PB and Chocolate bar. Love these.

For dinner, I broke into this soup I had gotten a while back. It was Campbells Select Harvest Light Minestrone with whole grain pasta.

I was pleasantly surprised with this soup! I am very weary of canned soups but I really enjoyed this! it was chock full of greens, potato, pasta and veggies it was comforting and not too salty

Also had some tofu and veggie stirfry! YUM

Today, I woke up and made some coffee and oats on the stove which I haven’t done in so long!

1/2 C oats, chia seeds, water, 1/2 banana
So good and filled to the brim (PB on the bottom :))

french press coffee with SO delicious French Vanilla creamer. I love how the french Press makes the coffee so frothy!

I came home (slept at Jasons) and made some lunch and dinner for work. I also made a protein shake using my sample of Sun Warrior Protein Powder.

Says everything right there! I LOVED this protein!
I have been looking for a protein that is all natural and i have heard amazing things about Sun Warrior. This was the vanilla but I am sure both the vanilla and chocolate are equally great! It was a bit different tasting at first than my normal BSN protein, but after a few sips, wow was it tasty!

1/2 C frozen berry mix
1/2 C skim milk
1/2 C almond milk
water/ice
1/2 banana

—-

Made another WW pita with grilled chicken, baby spinach, tomaters, red onion and Sabra

Had about half this bar a few hours later. It was smushed in my bag, but it was DELICIOUS! first time with the Dulce De Leche flavor and it was heavenly. It tasted like a decadent dessert.

Some pillow bites of Kays Protein bites and plain Chob’s for a snackie before Spin class! I took spin at 5:45 tonight at my gym. It was awesome! the good thing about the gym (where I work) is it is a corporate center so the classes are small and we can joke with each other. its a great, non threatening atmosphere which is important especially to our new members.

I didn’t take a pic of dinner but it was some chicken meatballs and roasted cauliflower with some soup!

Came home and was ravishing (and still am) Kashi puffs with Almond milk and Strawberries.
I think the working out at night makes me MORE hungry!
Thats all I got! I am now watching 18 kids and counting on TLC-the show about a family with 18 naturally born kids and she is pregnant with a 19th! thats just crazy! I will be tuning in to JERSEY SHORE at 10 (yey) don’t judge me haha
  • When you workout at night are you MORE hungry?
  • What do you think about having 18 kids, or the thought of giving birth to 18 kids!?
  • What is the newest food/snack you have discovered that you love?

My thoughts and prayers are with those in Haiti <3

I don’t work out at night, because I like my morning runs. It makes me hungry the whole day, so it’s easier for me to eat the “gaining” amount. 🙂 If I work out at night, I won’t be able to eat much.
Um, the thought of giving birth to just ONE kid makes me squeamish. 18 kids?!!! I would DIE!!

Newest food I discovered: sprouted, dehydrated sunflower seeds! The bomb!!!

  2. glidingcalm says:

    so much good food!!!

nice to know those wraps are tasty, and the select soups as well!!!

i also love the diversity of your meals!! i am dying to try some sun warrior! I’ve only heard good things!!

    happy Friday Naomi!

  3. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says:

the sun warrior is the BOMB in both vanilla and choc. I have the choc which is what I use to make this
    http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/2009/12/chocolate-in-aruba-chocolate-brownie.html
and it totally rocks. I prefer Sun Warrior brown rice to Jay Robb Brown rice, but they are both excellent.

“Amazing Grass PB and Chocolate bar. Love these”–thank you for saying that b/c i have one in my cupboard but am scared to try it b/c there have been a few big bloggers who have bashed them lately and i am not into eating anything “dirty” tasting LOL

    The coffee. Nice.

    xoxo

  4. Abby (Nibble, Nourish, Run) says:

Oh yay so glad you tried Sun Warrior…I just bought some but haven’t given it a try yet – glad to hear you like it! Er and 18 kids…mmm…no. No no no no. Oh and I never work out at night (morning girl) so I’m not sure about being more hungry…but I’m certainly ALWAYS hungry after my morning sweat sessions! Have a lovely Friday miss!

  5. redhead75 says:

Pants on the ground is awesome! My hubs and I were cracking up watching Idol. Especially when Kara and Randy started singing and then you saw Larry’s eyes light up and he chymed in LOL! What a sweet man!

  6. Abby (Abbys Vegan Eats) says:

Um the thought of one child freaks me out let alone 18.. uhhh.

When Im still hungry at night (which is everynight) I always have some pretezels, an apple and usually some granola with soy milk).

I love that you make you coffee with a french press, btw, my hub uses one and will never go back to a regular “maker”!

  7. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says:

    lol…Larry.

Glad to hear that soup was good; canned soup makes me weary too.

That 18 kids and Counting show freaks me out…I just cannot even imagine. My husband said that he once saw an interview with the guy, and he showed some BIG flow chart of how many Duggars would eventually be in the world, based on all of his kids having as many kids as they’ve had, and all of the grandchildren having that many kids, etc., etc.

    Wacko!

  8. findinghappinessandhealth says:

your oats look so fluffy! i lvoe it. & great video, oh dear haha.
i dont think i get much hungrier when i workout at night.
my newest favorite snack is the banana bread larabar

& loove jersey shore, sadly hahaha

    xo

  9. april says:

Haha that guy was so funny on Idol! My sister and dad wouldn’t stop singing it.. i got quite annoyed to say the least! LOL

I think I’m more hungry when I workout in the morning!

And my newest favorite snack is my protein brownie batter.. or cottage cheese with yogurt, berries, and oats!

  10. K from ksgoodeats says:

Those Kay’s protein bites are INSANE – I tried some yesterday and oh my word, I love!! I don’t think I could ever have 18 kids. I’m an only child so a family that big just seems like too much haha 🙂

  11. goodtastehealthyme says:

I’m actually less hungry when I work out at night. Normally I’m hungry when I leave work. But once I work out I’m usually good.

NO WAY to 18 kids. I hyperventilate thinking of having one.

Dried cranberries are so delicious. I had it for the first time yesterday.

  12. Missy says:

I can’t believe they forgot to fill up your yogurt! What a rip off!

I get super hungry when I work out at night! Not right away but maybe after a half hour. But it is also 8:30 or 9 when I get home so very late for dinner.

No to 18 kids. I am poor lol.

  13. greensandjeans says:

I pretty much always work out in the mornings, but when I do workout at night I am definitely much more hungry afterwards! The thought of having 18 children makes me want to leap off a bridge! One or two would be MORE than enough!

  14. chrystad72 says:

OMG 18 kids!! wow…Im gonna say no to that one. lol. yikes. To each his own i guess though. But wow cant imagine having that many kids!!
I usually do my workouts in the morning but for some reason Im hungriest later. Its a delayed reaction. So if I workout at night my hunger usually hasnt kicked in by the time I go to bed. But Im still trying to figure my body out.

I love the veggie story fry. Its one of my go to foods right now and it looks so amazing. Cant go wrong there. Good to know about the SunWarrior protein powder. Ive been really curious about this.

    Have an awesome Friday!

  15. Taraleigh says:

Naomi I love your blog and having been following you for a while now! Always very interesting to follow! Loved the American Idol guy, LOL He was kind of right too!!

  16. Melissa says:

Pants on the ground…pants on the ground! He reminds me of the bums on Newbury Street, always entertaining.

I looove to watch 18 Kids and Counting. They’re such a nice family (though a little too religious, in my opinion) that it’s easy to get sucked in.

  17. MelindaRD says:

Those pita pockets look great. I love pita. As for the wok for free it was a completion gift for our wedding registry from calphalon. I love it.

  18. Mari says:

Ha I don’t watch AI but I keep hearing about that man all over the radio lol

Jersey Shore was so good last night! BTW do you twitter?

  19. Diana says:

AAAAH totally dying to try Sun Warrior but can’t find sample size anywhere! They need to hook a sister UP. I like Jay Robb’s BRP but have heard SW may be superior…

  20. Erica says:

Hey girl! How are you? Lots of yummy eats in this post! I need to try chias! They make your oatmeal look extra tasty. I want a french press and I’ve never even tried french press coffee (btw- just had some britt…SOOO good!). I’m not a fan of the sun warrior…it was too chalky for me (which I was bummed about because its so good for you!). I saw that guy singing pants on the ground on AI- totally cracked me up. Especially when Randy sang with him haha. Have a good weekend

  21. Gina says:

I’ve never tried Kay’s Naturals (product you mentioned on my blog) but I think I have heard of them. To be honest, I don’t spend a lot of money on “products” I just wait to get freebies (a nice perk of being an RD, I’ll admit). I do LOVE the Amazing Grass bars! I know they don’t give freebies often, at all, so I always spend money on that stuff, it’s worth it.

18 kids? Umm, no thanks!! I’d rather die, seriously.
Latest food/snack I’m craving is kale chips!! I just made them for the first time, and am in LOVE! Not bad for a craving, right? I mean it doesn’t get much healthier than that!

  22. Jamie says:

    That greens bar looks Tasty!
When you workout at night are you MORE hungry?- Not sure since it’s been so long since I did a night time workout, but probably!

What do you think about having 18 kids, or the thought of giving birth to 18 kids!?- Um, big fat no to 18 kids. But I can tell you that if i would have that many, I would certainly adopt about 15 of them.

What is the newest food/snack you have discovered that you love?- TOFU! Thanks to you Naomski!

  23. Julie says:

    okay several things:

    1. airpopped popcorn is the way to do it up haha. i bought this air popcorn popper from amazon for like 10 bucks and its the best thing ever. i get my kernels for super cheap at walmart and badabing its the best snack ever! i just use a little spray butter and have my own little sprinkler of cinnamon&stevia combo its amaaaaaaaazing but watch out for an addiction

    http://www.amazon.com/Nordic-Ware-Microwaver-Popcorn-Popper/dp/B00004W4UP/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1263588109&sr=8-13

    2. yellow zukes hahaha i’m a failure i call yellow summer squash yellow zuchinni hahaha

    3. that’s happened to me several times with chobs. i emailed the company and they asked for the codes of the containers and when i emailed them back with the codes they sent me free coupons! dooo iiit 🙂

    have a great weekend girl

  24. swankyrd says:

One thing I notice about eating at night is that since I did a good workout I will normally not crave anything sweet or salty like I seem to at night. Maybe because I don’t want all my efforts at the gym wasted. haha.

    And 18 kids…too much!

  25. Nicole (dishin') says:

That guy was SO funny…I have to say I like his message! Haha.

I live in Somerville…where are you? I’m so happy the Boston area is in the 40’s today. It’s like summer!

  26. Michelle (Snacks and Field) says:

Hahha that American Idol video was so funny/cute… I love old men lol
And I HATE when i only get 1/2 full things like your yogurt… I’m always so upset like I’m not getting the full experience :/! And ahhh definitely can’t judge you with the Jersey Shore watching!

And food discovery- “Pumpkin Pie” With canned pumpkin and egg whites in the microwave 🙂

  27. Nicole (dishin') says:

PS – Do you think the mom from 18 kids and counting will stop having more now that one was premature? I hope so. 19 is plenty and they are even grandparents now.

I’m planning to stop at 3 kids tops!

  28. Jenny says:

ahhh I totally missed jersey shore last night – it’s killin me! The American Idol auditions are SO entertaining.. I could literally watch them all day… and oh my god – I still can’t get over 18 kids and counting!! I can’t imagine 3 kids.. let alone 6 times that many!

okay, clearly I have a reality TV addiction… I’ll shut up now.

    🙂

  29. Andrea@WellnessNotes says:

I’m REALLY curious about the Amazing Grass bars. Some people seem to love them and others don’t… I’ll have to get one! 🙂

I hardly ever work out at night, so I don’t really know if I’m more hungry… I do work out in the late afternoon quite a few times per week though, and I guess I do eat more for dinner than on days when I don’t work out… Never really thought about it!

    18 kids? I can barely handle 2!

    Have a great weekend!

  30. homecookedem says:

I never workout at night. I’m too tired by then!

18 kids is Cah-ray-zay!!!!!! I teach 19 6 year olds all by myself, but I get to send them home at the end of the day. Can’t imagine having that many ALL the time! Oh my gosh, and giving birth to that many children?! OY!!

I’d say protein cookie dough from Foods of April is the newest food that I’ve fallen in love with as of late! So good!! 🙂

  31. Christina says:

I could not fathom having 18 kids!!!! That is insane and I just don’t think right either. But I digress. Your meals look delicious. And now I MUST find one of those dulce de leche luna bars. Yummmm!

  32. preventionrd says:

18…makes me exhausted just thinking about it! Your eats look awesome, girl! That tofu…mmm mmm!

And the Pants on the Ground…OMG, I died laughing when I saw that on AI. CLASSIC!

    Have a great weekend!

  33. Kelly says:

The pants on the ground guy cracked me up too!

Anyway, that looks like a great work out- might try some of those ab moves tomorrow

  34. daintyvegan says:

Eighteen kids is absolutely ridiculous! I don’t know.. maybe it’s just me but I find that extremely irresponsible. Couldn’t they have at least adopted a few of the 18?

As for night workouts and being more hungry.. I have no idea. I only workout in the morning and if a morning workout doesn’t happen then that means NO exercise happens.. heh. :3

My newest, favorite snack that I am absolutely obsessed with, are Oskri Coconut Bars. I have one almost every single day. They are soooooo addictive, it’s horrible.

  35. coffeerun8 says:

I’ve also heard great things about Sun Warrior! I <3 my Jay Robb brown rice protein so I figure that must be good too.
    – I prefer working out earlier in the day (although it makes me more hungry)
    – 18 kids? no way. NO way.
    – A food I re-discovered was pears! They’re so good 🙂

  36. MelissaNibbles says:

I don’t watch Idol, but that guy is awesome! Thanks girl!

I’m hungry no matter when I workout.
The thought of any kids scare me. I’m not ready to be a mother yet. If I had 18, I’d hide in a closet.

On another note, I contacted Jess at HowSweet about this as well and wanted your input. I’m considering training for a figure contest (I love a challenge). Have you ever done one? Is the diet insane? What is your opinion on them, pros/cons? Thanks girl!

  37. Janetha says:
